davieG Posted 21 December 2006 Posted 21 December 2006 Under-fire Crystal Palace boss Peter Taylor has pleaded for time to turn things round at the club. Palace take on Sunderland on Friday night sitting just six points above the drop-zone. The Eagles have lost their last two outings and Taylor knows he faces a crucial spell during the busy festive period. "It takes time for any manager to stamp his authority," said Taylor. "If we don't have a good Christmas, we'll have to admit we're not getting promotion. "But three wins would put us back in the picture." Like one or two on here re LCFC - Still deluded: 18 Crystal Palace 23 7 5 11 26 30 -4 26 19 Luton Town 23 7 5 11 29 38 -9 26 20 Queens Park Rangers 23 6 6 11 31 38 -7 24 21 Barnsley 23 6 5 12 28 41 -13 23 22 Hull City 23 5 5 13 22 35 -13 20 23 Leeds United 23 6 2 15 24 43 -19 20 24 Southend United 23 3 7 13 18 39 -21 16
lookwhaticando Posted 21 December 2006 Posted 21 December 2006 I'm not deluded. I just don't discount the possibility of anything until it's mathematically impossible. We can still get promoted... and so can Peter Taylor's band of idiots. All PT needs is to splash the cash in January to strengthen his squad, then he'll definitely be out of the running for promotion.
dandannieldanok Posted 21 December 2006 Posted 21 December 2006 Fool, at least when they did their unpredictable rise a couple of seasons ago under Dowie they had some decent players. Taylor is wank.

Personally never expected promotion so not really surprised we're consistently poor at present despite recent results. However i did expect us at least to put in a half decent challenge for top half of league and if Manndaric doesn't come in it won't happen this season or next season...
BartonFox Posted 22 December 2006 Posted 22 December 2006 Peter Taylor is another Les Reed, but slightly luckier because he has a professional playing background. H he is another self obsesed moron in the dressing room and one who never garners respect from the players. Yes he is good at under-21 level because these lads don't need motivating this is the penultimate step before ultimate recognition, a baboon could manage that lot.
lookwhaticando Posted 22 December 2006 Posted 22 December 2006 Quote of the day. I'm not fearful of going down - the team is too good to go down BBC Sport - Taylor eyes Christmas pick-me-up Of course he isn't fearful of being relegated himself - he'll have been sacked before Palace get relegated. Too good to go down... we heard that before relating to West Ham...
Deathside Posted 22 December 2006 Posted 22 December 2006 I don't understand how Leicester, hull & palace are all loitering at the bottom end of the table
Thracian Posted 22 December 2006 Posted 22 December 2006 I don't understand how Leicester, hull & palace are all loitering at the bottom end of the table Because it takes special people - with vision, personality, imagination, the ability to recognise the right player for a job at the right price, instinctive tactical understanding and a shrewdly persuasive line in motiivational psychology - to maintain a lasting degree of success in football. And the structure/ambition necessary to attract such people.
Joe. Posted 22 December 2006 Posted 22 December 2006 I don't understand how Leicester, hull & palace are all loitering at the bottom end of the table I can understand how we're not doing so good, we have very little quality and a manager who isn't very good. Palace have a manager who isnt very good but surely they have the quality in their squad to be doing much better than they are?
MC Prussian Posted 22 December 2006 Posted 22 December 2006 I don't understand how Leicester, hull & palace are all loitering at the bottom end of the table When it comes to Hull, it could've been expected at the start of this season. They just don't have the resources nor the player potential to keep them up. As for Crystal Palace, it's Peter Taylor at his best again. In addition, they've lost a few good players from last season to other teams (talented lads like Routledge, Riihilahti, Andrews and Hall to name a few) and ever since Dowie had to step down, they've also lost a great mentor. And our team, well... The truth is on the pitch and there's numerous reasons why it's not really working out: - There's no real captain on the pitch (no identification figure) - Not enough talent - The coach bought underachievers that don't improve the overall strength of the squad - Our current coach was brought in as an emergency solution in the middle of last season - We don't have the funds (yet) - The Youth Academy doesn't not really mingle with the First Team (although there's glimpses of hope with Levi Porter & Gradel might come in at a later point) - Our board is a disgrace and makes dubious decisions - We're still indebted - The fans are a bunch of moaners
