Then again having said that, Sunderland didn't rate kilbane, and now look at him. Everton fans call him Zenadin Kilbane

Its on the same Link as above but a different viewpoint. Sounds more encouraging.

Jonbluefox9 Posted 9 January 2005 Posted 9 January 2005 Who? Not sure how many of us knew who Muzzy Izzet was when MON picked him up from Chelsea reserves but we certainly did by the time he left us. Not saying that this Kisnorbo will play like Muzzy btw as I don't know what he's like but just using it as an example.
Muz Posted 9 January 2005 Author Posted 9 January 2005 We have never had a decent Defensive Midfielder since Neil Lennon maybe this player will fit that roll i sincerely hope so

Classic examples: Junior Lewis, Graham fenton, Benjamin, Marshall.

Therefore he gave him a contract of around 25k up to the age of 36/37. Great management.
alijambo Posted 9 January 2005 Posted 9 January 2005 Paddy Kisnorbo on his day will do a good job for you i think. Although he is listed as a defender he has played nearly all his games for us (hearts) in midfield. He is a tall mobile a good athlete and gets about the park well. On the down side has to work on his distribution which can be woeful at times but at 23 he has plenty time on his side to improve. He is a typical levien player the will run all day and fights for everything so from what i have read sounds like the type of player you need. One thing though he is very raw at this level before hearts signed him played in austrailia so may need to give him time to settle.

We've got one in the form of Stephen Dawson who is very young and yet to get afirst team start. But you can never have too many of that sort of player. Sounds good IMO, and as Scowy has said, if he is a Billy Mac type I will be more than happy, because that it the type of player who gets you results in this league. All we need now is another Dickov
Anish Posted 10 January 2005 Posted 10 January 2005 Don't people realise that the signing of Kisnorbo could mean that Dawson will be frozen out next season too? We'll still have Williams and Gudjonsson, and with Kisnorbo here too I'm sure Dawson will be at the bottom of the pecking order. And that's without the possibility of further midfield signings.

We are losing 13 players over the summer and will be left with a first team squad of about 16 players inclusing Dawson and Kisnorbo and no goalkeeper. Undoubtedly we will add more players but I don't think Dawson will be discarded in the manner your post suggests. Also maybe the manager doesn't think he is going to be good enough to start 46 games next season!!!!!! On the flip side the Aussie can play in the back four and what we will need is vertsitile players so don't dispair about Dawson just yet.

People have already said this season that our midfield is lightweight, and references to the likes of Lennon, and Billy Mac, etc keep cropping up. Plus, we don't know what CL plans to do with the squad and the players we've already got.
Tomassi Posted 11 January 2005 Posted 11 January 2005 Gemmill will definately leave.. and Gudjohnsons showed he isnt class so with the main midfielders gonna be gareth williams and nalis with kisnorbo and dawson.. sounds good to meh
Ash Posted 11 January 2005 Posted 11 January 2005 and Gudjohnsons showed he isnt class 53855 Joey is the best defensive midfielder we have
davieG Posted 11 January 2005 Posted 11 January 2005 and Gudjohnsons showed he isnt class 53855 Joey is the best defensive midfielder we have 53899 That's because he's the only defensive midfielder we've tried, Gemmill, Nalis, Williams and even Tiatto aren't not defensive midfielders IMO

Players like McKinlay and Lennon have good footballing brains and tend to stay disciplined positional wise in front on the back 3/4.
