Lineker's Left Foot Posted 13 January 2007 Posted 13 January 2007 Am annoyed about how Political Correctness is becoming a major blip on our political landscapes. We've had:- 1. Banning Christmas Messages in certain forms or another in various places. 2. NHS for Muslims Blah blah blah Well, it's not the Muslims who are offended it's the political correctness bigwigs - who I feel are ruining any relationship we have with other ethnic groups. This is all leading to a rise in the British National Party !! Something which I hope never occurs.
Flynny Posted 13 January 2007 Posted 13 January 2007 It's a form of racism in itself, over the top political correctness. Assuming other races are petty and small-minded enough to be offended by tiny little things when they in many cases quite obviously won't be.
Rincewind Posted 13 January 2007 Posted 13 January 2007 It's called 'The Mary Whitehouse Syndrome'(MWS) They start off their complaints with ' I believe I am speaking on behalf of every hard-working decent man and woman.........' well sometimes I wish they wouldnt. The MWS then infects those who suffer with 'Alf Garnett Ignoramousitus' (AGI) This is when sufferers upon hearing words like 'decent' hard-working' tax-payer' 'true' 'genuine' shout out in public bars 'He's rite y'now, I knows dis bloke whos bruvver-in-lay says........' The actual symtoms and reaction can vary but the result is the same. They lhit rock bottom lose their job and the only work they can get is as editor of the Sun or News Of The World where they can control the disease by keeping up with these publications standards. Well that's my personal view

This is all leading to a rise in the British National Party !! Something which I hope never occurs. Regrettably, you're probably right. Actually, you're almost certainly right. Familiar pattern, really. Government "goes soft" on a certain 'minority' interest or group, saying nice things about them to keep them happy. It causes quite some resentful feeling amongst - as the BNP and it's voters see it - the poor, neglected, underprivileged 'citizens'. Of course, being the BNP 'citizens' means 'whites' or pure 100% British people by birth maybe. I mean, the poorer 'white' underclass are a soft target for the BNP when other 'deserving' minorities and under-classes are pacified by the Government. It's easy to stoke any semblance of resentful feeling. Start chanting clever slogans about foreigners taking our jobs and taking over our country, and you suddenly have some solid support in localized areas. The "softer" you get on foreigners, the more the support for the BNP will spread.
Rincewind Posted 13 January 2007 Posted 13 January 2007 It's not so much the soft treatment as the ignorance of the facts. I have not read the report but my first reaction was to ask what could have happened to prompt this report. Maybe they are referring to a muslim person who saw a doctor who did not understand the muslim culture when examining patient. Also if there were communication difficulties it would be wasting valuable hospital time.. Pehaps the person in the report was stating that where possible in areas where there are likely to be muslim patients is for there to be muslim nurses and doctors to avoid embarrassment and make the hospital run better. The NHS system might be ok already regarding this and the person overreacted before checking.. I am only guessing but I dont know every doctor and nurse in the NHS or have access to every muslim medical records to know all the facts. Often the PC brigade and the 'I cant believe it' brigade only see the facts they want to see. The result is threads such as this on General Chat message boards. You dont have to get 'soft' on foreigners for the BNP to gain support. Their followers are often not too bright so are open to suggestion. A perfect example of this is Newspeak as used in George Orwell's 1984.
