Lineker's Left Foot Posted 17 January 2007 Posted 17 January 2007 It's got to a point now that when I see Celebs, a lot of them in this Closer Magazine etc. seem to be nobodies (? think that's how you spell it) really !!! When I was young in the early to mid 80s, celebs were generally based on top-class film stars, excellent musicians, top sport stars or somebody who has achieved something (e.g. swimming the English Channel), but now it seems that with the advent of BB and the 'manufacturing of pop music' and the WAG phenomenon, we've suddenly presented ourselves with people who have gained fame for no 'justifiable' reason. Take music for example, so many top-quality musicians became reclusive as a result of fame e.g. Syd Barrett (Pink Floyd), Kate Bush, Peter Green (Fleetwood Mac) and some say that even Ian Curtis (Joy Division), Nick Drake or Billy MacKenzie (Associates) couldn't handle fame that led to their suicides. Now, it appears that these nobody celebs want fame to begin with, rather than considering the 'love of the product' that got them there e.g. Could you see one of the Girls Aloud stars becoming reclusive as a result of their success??? Rather, it's the music they possibly couldn't care about !! What do others think about this sad celeb.world?? Even my potential mother in law loves Jordan so much, she buys everything that Jordan's in and she (missus' mum) is 48 !!!
Phube Posted 17 January 2007 Posted 17 January 2007 Quite!!! What I hate is hearing girls (aged 10-15) asked what's their ambition in life, saying I want to be famous!!! Or even worse, I wanna be like Jordan!!!! Being famous is not an ambition!!! It should be the product of a talent/skill/endevour. I.e. being the top of your chosen field!! Not cause you flashed your t*** at some smarmy paparazzi!! I does make me angry...

Geo V Posted 17 January 2007 Posted 17 January 2007 You cant turn on the TV without seeing dipshites Z list celebs on and these nobodies who turn out to be celebs through these reality shows. Today, any dunce can be famous for nothing. My favourite is that Man Utd fan who at least had some balls about trying to be famous and ended up in team photos dressed in the united kit and once tried to walk out to bat for England when we lost a wicket! Hilarious and brave and well worth being a D list celeb. Its just a shame I dont know what his name is LOLOLOLOL!!
