Scarby Posted 12 January 2005 Posted 12 January 2005 by Dave Gorman i thought we could have our own adventure and a little game which think i will entittle after much thought and consideration The Foxestalk Googlewhack Adventure for those beings who are not familiar with this concept the rules are as follows (take from davegorman.com) Don't use quote marks within your query! Quotes tell Google to find the enclosed words immediately adjacent - and that's just too easy! (No other punctuation either, and no numbers - just 26 letters from A through Z.) As you whack, please respect these simple guidelines:1. Your two Googlefactors must exist in Google's view of this dictionary. Google does the work, and Google has the final word! In the blue bar atop your Google results, accepted terms are linked to dictionary.com, and so appear 'underlined.' No line, no link = Googlejack! (As in, You've got jack, so see the FAQ :-) 2. Google also is the arbiter of a whack's uniqueness. Look to the right end of the blue bar atop your Google results. If you see "Results 1 - 1 of (any number),' you found exactly one hit = Googlewhack! 3. Google shows you an excerpt of the page you whacked. Look at that text. If it's merely a list of words (such as a bibliography, concordance, encyclopedia, glossary, thesaurus, or dictionary), No Whack For You! there is no prize on offer just a bit of fun!
Scarby Posted 12 January 2005 Author Posted 12 January 2005 trust me its a dead fun game!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Scarby Posted 12 January 2005 Author Posted 12 January 2005 googlewhack.com has a list of what people have have found so far
Alexikokopops Posted 12 January 2005 Posted 12 January 2005 Me and me sis discovered one, but that was last summer, so I can't remember
Scarby Posted 14 January 2005 Author Posted 14 January 2005 No one found any yet then!!! what better time to start looking on a friday night
Janx Posted 25 September 2006 Posted 25 September 2006 Just ressurected this, I watched it ALL for the first time last night, part of me believes it to be an elaborate fix up, I mean finishing it so conveniently etc!! BUT HOW FECKING CLEVER IS HE.... brilliant timing, presentation, delivery, pace and clearly hugely bright and intelligent... one of the funniest things I have seen for ages and totally awstruck by some of the coincidences. what a laugh and what a brilliant waste of 2/3 months!! I wish I had more free time and cash!
syston_fox Posted 25 September 2006 Posted 25 September 2006 If you liked that then you should buy the book "Are you Dave Gorman" by Dave Gorman and Danny Wallace (or buy the DVD when it comes out late october). Even funnier than the googlewhack adventure in my opinion. Also look at the books "Join Me" and "The yes man" by Danny Wallace. Both similar things about crazy ideas that kind of develop into projects that take over their lives.
Rincewind Posted 25 September 2006 Posted 25 September 2006 I'm a little confused. I don't know dave Gorman. Would I be right in saying you put two random words into google search and hope for one result? I've just tried it a couple of times and got above 10,000,000 each time. Can we have an example?
Rincewind Posted 25 September 2006 Posted 25 September 2006 Thanks. Got down to 625 or 0. Those examples are out of date. When someone hits on here I'll have a clearer picture of what to do. BTW i've never liked or been keen on being called Kenny. No big deal really but I've always prefered Ken. I'm being a fussy old bugger aren't I?

Suffolk_fox Posted 25 September 2006 Posted 25 September 2006 no problem Kenny Ha ha, reminds me of when I was in the RAF New Guy walks into our crewroom. "Hi guys, my name is Steve, but my mates call me 'SD'." Crewroom in unison - "Hiya Steve.."
