Craig Posted 17 January 2005 Posted 17 January 2005 Mr Jeffs,as the Ground Safety Officer at Deepdale I received a copy of your e-mail complaining about the stewarding at Deepdale during the PNE v Leicester City fixture on the 15th January, 2005. From the outset can I say that I totally refute your allegations about heavy handed stewarding and that you were victimised. The stewards were merely attempting to enforce the Football League Ground Regulations regarding persistent standing. As a supporter I would have thought that you would be aware of Regulation 9 which clearly states - "Nobody may stand in any seating area whilst play is in progress. Persistent standing in seated areas whilst play is in progress is strictly forbidden and may result in ejection from the ground." These ground regulations are posted outside every turnstile at Deepdale and it is a condition of entry that you agree to abide by them. It is unfortunate that whilst the stewards were attempting to enforce this regulation a small minority of Leicester fans, many of whom were under the influence of drink, decided to threaten the stewards. For this reason a Police serial entered the stand and several fans were arrested for threatening behaviour. The Police did not storm the stand on 10 occasions as you allege. It is in the interests of all football supporters to note that the licensing authorities have made their views known on the topic of persistent standing, that being that stadium capacities will be reduced at grounds where it is not controlled, and where visiting fans persistently stand the numbers allowed at away matches will be restricted. This has already been done at some Championship matches involving Leeds United. As far as the home fans being ignored by the stewards you may be interested to note that more home fans were ejected from the home section of the Bill Shankly Kop than Leicester fans in the visitors area. David Holden Ground Safety Officer PNE PS For your information the taking of pictures inside the ground is also a breach of the Ground Regulations (Reg.14) What they gonna do?! Chuck me out?
Craig Posted 17 January 2005 Author Posted 17 January 2005 why can't you take photos? 55627 I thought that taking pictures was only against the rules if taken of the match in progress
Scarby Posted 17 January 2005 Posted 17 January 2005 why can't you take photos? 55627 Dont you know. thicko. Have you not read Prestons ground regulation booklet. Reg 14: One must not take photos!
Scarby Posted 17 January 2005 Posted 17 January 2005 why can't you take photos? 55627 I thought that taking pictures was only against the rules if taken of the match in progress 55629 and with a flash

No. Don't see the difference to be honest. He's speaking a load of rubbish, clearly needs to read the rulebook
Katy Posted 17 January 2005 Posted 17 January 2005 why can't you take photos? 55627 I thought that taking pictures was only against the rules if taken of the match in progress 55629 and with a flash 55631 What are they going to do about it though? Converscate everyones camera phones prior to entry to the ground?
Jonbluefox9 Posted 17 January 2005 Posted 17 January 2005 Stupid. I did see one man at Leeds ask if his son could stand on one of the steps at the bottom of each gangway and have his picture taken. The steward wouldn't let him. Probably more to do with safety though. My Dad's mate filmed the final match at Filbert Street without getting his camera taken away!
Steven Posted 17 January 2005 Posted 17 January 2005 PS For your information the taking of pictures inside the ground is also a breach of the Ground Regulations (Reg.14) What they gonna do?! Chuck me out? 55621 But Clubs will use CCTV as evidence to prosecute or eject fans. Yet fans cannot take photographs in support of their own defence. Not sure that will fly too far in the courts. <_< However as one of those photos (Whilst being harassed constantly by the "stewards", these bunch of twats were apparently "sitting down"... Hmmm... ..assuming these are Preston fans) showed there were a number people standing, maybe it is the publication of such embarassing photos that Clubs do not want published.
Wilson Posted 17 January 2005 Posted 17 January 2005 Its the same at the Walkers stadium though - It says you can't take any equipment like that in.
Teeno Posted 17 January 2005 Posted 17 January 2005 The stewarding was awfull, I cannot understand how they could pic on individuals to chuck out, when there was other 100 of us standing. The stewards were over the top and couldn't control the situation properly.
Guest Posted 18 January 2005 Posted 18 January 2005 You can't take photographs during play, because of copyright laws. You need permission from the FL (or PL if we ever get back) and a permit to do so.
