Louise Posted 21 March 2007 Posted 21 March 2007 Hmm. I thought this thread was going to be about the Tory councillor pimping out a mentally disabled woman to pay for his mortgage. Letdown.
Daggers Posted 21 March 2007 Author Posted 21 March 2007 …meanwhile the Tory lead in the opinion polls continues to grow and Brown’s standing nose dives… make of that what you will!? I was disappointed TOO many times by opinion polls in the 80's and early 90's to lend them any credence whatsoever. Dave is a triumph of style over substance, the country needs an opposition party that isn't led by a soundbite photo-op clown.
Mort Posted 21 March 2007 Posted 21 March 2007 Dave is a triumph of style over substance, the country needs an opposition party that isn't led by a soundbite photo-op clown. That's simply a product of modern poltics, Brown, Blair, Smith, Kinnock, Thatcher, Mayor, Clinton, Bush, Gore, Kerry, Royale, Sarkozy... all are/where very concerned about how voters viewed them and tailored their politics and persona to fit that... no real point about highlighting "Dave" as an example... the country might need a "an opposition party that isn't led by a soundbite photo-op clown"... but they dont want one... doubt they want a near autistic scot either ,whats more if your after soundbites, the way Brown sees a program for every problem in society has seen the worst kind of "soundbite culture" (worst of all its bloody expensive and bloody wastful!). On the issue of polls, you cant detract from the fact that polling has come on a long way since the debacle of 1992... Tory lead isnt massive (anywhere from 6-10%... though ICM had them 15 ahead of Labour the other day), its pretty robust and has been since Cameron became their leader (indeed its been steadily growing). Its likley the next election is going to see the Tories going in with a modest poll lead, after that it comes down to who has the better campaign... Cameron or Brown... then again its years away, anyway
MC Prussian Posted 21 March 2007 Posted 21 March 2007 Can we merge this thread with the "Life On Mars" one? Would be fitting.
Mort Posted 21 March 2007 Posted 21 March 2007 Can we merge this thread with the "Life On Mars" one? Would be fitting. In that it’s a throw back to the seventies?
