Guest Gist Posted 15 March 2007 Posted 15 March 2007 ITV1 at 7.30pm tonight. I think Newcastle have enough to go through, although the chances are they will be under pressure for the majority of the game and so I think it will be a bit boring for the neutral. I'm hoping Newcastle go for it and we see plenty of goals like the first leg!

I'm hoping Newcastle go for it and we see plenty of goals like the first leg! Bit of a strange way of looking at it. AZ need at least two goals and have to attack. The sooner they get one, the better for them. Newcastle have bundles of pace up front and will be looking to score on the counter attack. Personally, I can't wait.
dandannieldanok Posted 15 March 2007 Posted 15 March 2007 Should be good and I personally think if AZ pound that shaky Toon defence then they could easily progress. Obviously it works both way and if Martins and Dyer can catch them cold on the counter attack, like Fez said, this game could have many goals.
Flexx Posted 15 March 2007 Posted 15 March 2007 AZ for me, they have some decent attacking players and i can't see Newcastle scoring. 3-0 to AZ on the night

I didn't think about them counter attacking with the pace they have, but I have a feeling this game will be all AZ but just not scoring the goals needed to put them through. My prediction 1-0 AZ.
Milky Posted 15 March 2007 Posted 15 March 2007 I'm looking forward to this one. Things are never straight foward with Newcastle so it could be a bit of a rollercoaster.
lildave3 Posted 15 March 2007 Posted 15 March 2007 1-0 Newcastle, Arveladze. Just after a top save from Given too.
Maybes Posted 15 March 2007 Posted 15 March 2007 AZ are no mugs and I have a feeling they'l turn newcastle over on their home patch
Cobbo Posted 15 March 2007 Posted 15 March 2007 Well Newcastle are playing like a bunch of inbred sheep with Welsh blood.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 15 March 2007 Posted 15 March 2007 According to www.xscores.com, Sevilla pulled level at 2-2 in their tie with Shakhtar (which was also 2-2 in the first leg) with an injury time goal from their keeper Andres Palop. As far as I can work out anyway. Extra time now.
lildave3 Posted 15 March 2007 Posted 15 March 2007 Is it me or does the commentator keep calling Martins 'Martines' ?
lildave3 Posted 15 March 2007 Posted 15 March 2007 2-0. Great ball, great run, great header. Hope City are watching this
Maybes Posted 15 March 2007 Posted 15 March 2007 AZ are no mugs and I have a feeling they'l turn newcastle over on their home patch ahem
Flexx Posted 15 March 2007 Posted 15 March 2007 Is it me or does the commentator keep calling Martins 'Martines' ? There's a martines playing for AZ so he might be getting them mixed up. At least the commentary is better than listening to John Barnes on channel 5
Brainy Posted 15 March 2007 Posted 15 March 2007 He is being called Marteens, or something along those lines.
Flexx Posted 15 March 2007 Posted 15 March 2007 Actually i've just noticed- he calls Martins, Martines. And Martines, Martins. Whats this guy on
lildave3 Posted 15 March 2007 Posted 15 March 2007 Actually i've just noticed- he calls Martins, Martines. And Martines, Martins. Whats this guy on Well the AZ guy is called Martens anyway, so i suppose that's near enough But whats with Obafemi Martines?
Cobbo Posted 15 March 2007 Posted 15 March 2007 2-0. Great ball, great run, great header. Hope City are watching this Erm, the shit marking is more our style. Goals like that are always preventable if you don't play 3 donkeys in the back 4 as Newcastle did. Newcastle played like a bunch of arses.
Manwell Pablo Posted 15 March 2007 Posted 15 March 2007 Should be good and I personally think if AZ pound that shaky Toon defence then they could easily progress. That Danny Kovermans aint bad is he, City should have a look at him
Floating Fox Posted 15 March 2007 Posted 15 March 2007 There's a martines playing for AZ so he might be getting them mixed up. At least the commentary is better than listening to John Barnes on channel 5 It's david pleat for foooks sake - It doesn't get ANY worse!!
Joe. Posted 15 March 2007 Posted 15 March 2007 They should have gone through after the result in the first leg. I know AZ are a good team but Newcastle should have had the players to do the job. They didn't play well and they got what they deserved I suppose.
