Steve Smith Quiz Night & Disco 2007

For those of you who don’t know Steve, he is a lifelong City supporter and one of the founder board members of the Foxes Trust. In December 2005 he suffered a massive stroke which left him unable to walk, use his right arm or speak. He was 37, married, and has three young sons.

Since his stroke, Steve has been having physio and speech therapy several times each week. He is now able to walk and has a limited vocabulary, which is an amazing achievement in just over a year.

However, he has just been told that his NHS physio is to stop and so this will now need to be privately funded in order for him to continue to improve. This will cost approximately £5000 each year.

To help contribute towards this expense, a Quiz Night and Disco is being held on Friday 25th May 2007 at The 1884 Sports Bar which is at the Walkers Stadium, from 8pm until 1am.

Teams participating in the quiz must contain a maximum of 6 members.

Tickets for the event are £10 each and every penny will go directly to Steve’s fund.

You can purchase tickets from the Foxes Trust office (from my good self!) located at the ground. Directions to the office can be found here.

Tickets will only be available prior to the Derby game (6th April) 1.15 - 2.15pm and the Norwich game (14th April) 1.30- 2.30pm.

If you would like to purchase tickets and are unable to make either of these times, please PM me for alternative methods.

If you are unable to attend the event, but would still like to contribute to Steve’s fund, details of how you can do this can be found here.

If you are able to offer assistance in any other way - maybe you work for a company who would be willing to donate a raffle prize?, then please PM me.

It would be great to see you all there, stretching your brains and strutting your stuff!

Cheers.

As a player in the quiz-winning team last year I can confirm it will be a great night out.

Hope as many folk turn out as can make it.

Thanks to whoever has made this a sticky

No problem, good luck with it and best wishes to Steve and family.

I'm looking forward to meeting some of you tomorrow when I start to sell tickets for the Quiz & Disco. Please tell me if you're a poster on here - it would be good to put faces to names.

I will also have raffle tickets available to buy for any of you who are unable to make the event but would still like to help Steve in some way. Some of the prizes that have been donated so far include tickets to see Girls Aloud, a designer watch, a luggage set, cricket tickets, designer sunglasses, gift vouchers, meals out and tickets for the races.

I would just like to reiterate that every penny donated will go directly to Steve's fund.

Thank you.

Just a reminder that I shall, once again, be selling tickets for this event from the Foxes Trust office between 1.30 - 2.30pm tomorrow. It's going to be a really good night out, as I'm sure those of you who went last year will testify.

I just met Steve for the first time today and I must say his progress and the speed of his recovery is indeed impressive.

Hope he'll be his usual self as soon as possible, although I can see how hard it is working on things that seemed so natural beforehand.

All the best wishes to him and his family!

Come on Foxestalkers!!

It's set to be a great night, and all proceeds are going to a great cause!! (maybe us TBers can beat you in the quiz - we need some bragging rights after our dismal display in the 5-a-side!!!!!!!)

Be there or be square.

Another excellent night. Many thanks to the organisers and those who donated raffle prizes.:thumbup::thumbup:

The team "Wot No Strongbow?" successfully defended their title, though credit to the Talking Balls team for running us close.

Judging by the meaningful glances that Naomi from Leicester Sound was shooting in our direction throughout the evening, we may have been able to make more of our success... ;);)

But unfortunately domestic and work duties intervened for some of our team members, so we had to make an early exit... :(

Good show last night guys.

Not sure if it was a full Foxes Talk team you put out or just the odd member, but we'll beat you at something someday  . Christ knows what though, certainly not 5-a side football that's a fact!!!

Well done guys & gals :worship:

The winning side consisted of me, my brother and a couple of mates. I was the only FT writer in it.

Rest assured none of us will be playing 5-a-side football any time soon, with you or anyone else! :D

Not sure if there were any other FT members there. If there were they're keeping it VERY quiet!

That's a bloody relief, thought for a while there that you lot here on FT had another victory over us.

We can hold our heads high again over on TB ^_^

TB's OK, I enjoy it. Sometimes it does my head in so I won't say it's perfect.

I have never really spent much time on here TBH, not for any other reason than I can't be bothered to type the same thing twice on different forums. I shall browse your forum at my leisure and report back.

I have to say it looks OK so far
