MBK Posted 14 April 2007 Posted 14 April 2007 wo Changes Nigel Worthington begins his reign as Leicester City boss by making two changes to the starting line up for the Championship clash against Norwich City at the Walkers Stadium. In come Conrad Logan and Gareth McAuley for Paul Henderson and Alan Maybury. Henderson drops to the bench, while Maybury has been left out of the 16. Darren Kenton is expected to switch to right-back to allow McAuley to take up a position in the centre of the Leicester defence. The City midfield is as was for the Plymouth game on Monday, with Iain Hume and Matty Fryatt again starting in attack. The big surprise of the day comes on the bench, with 16-year-old Academy star Joe Mattock (pictured) making the 16. Mattock has come up through the Leicester ranks, and has played for England through the youth levels. He recently represented his country in an international tournament in Slovenia - starting all three games. Mattock grew up in the Eyres Monsell area of the city, and will celebrate his 17th birthday on May 17 this year. He has been handed the number 30 shirt. City: Logan, Kenton, McAuley, Kisnorbo, Johansson, Newton, Jarrett, Wesolowski, Porter, Hume, Fryatt. Subs: Henderson, Horsfield, Stearman, Hammond, Mattock.
lookwhaticando Posted 14 April 2007 Posted 14 April 2007 Joe Mattock's inclusion is a massive surprise as far as I'm concerned. He's 16, he's never appeared for the first time, and as soon as a new manager takes over, he appears as if by magic. He must have impressed during the 5 hours of training with the first team. Kudos to the lad for making himself known - now let's hope he can play some positive part in today's game. As for Henderson being dropped... perhaps Worthington decided to change goalkeeper on the back of a couple of heavy defeats... or perhaps he's never rated Henderson, or perhaps Miller has never rated Henderson. Still, quite a surprising move all the same. The good news is, McAuley's back.
MC Prussian Posted 14 April 2007 Posted 14 April 2007 Mattock's parents surely paid a fortune to sponsor him warming the bench. At least he'll get something out of it for the family album.
Bryn Posted 14 April 2007 Posted 14 April 2007 Super Gaz McAuley! Has Kisnorbo retained the captaincy?

If I'm not mistaken, he gets paid a wedge (a grand or ten grand, I forget) if he actually appears for the club. Super Gaz McAuley!Has Kisnorbo retained the captaincy? No indication as to who has the captaincy... you'd imagine it's Kisnorbo, there's no real likely replacements - Nissa perhaps.
Geo V Posted 14 April 2007 Posted 14 April 2007 Well Done Wortho! Mattock on the bench is a good move as the academy lads, especially ones that have England recognition should be involved. Also Logan, our future in GK ahead of Hendo is a positive move too. A good start on the selection front IMO.
STUHILL Posted 14 April 2007 Posted 14 April 2007 Maybury not even in the 16!!! That is class, Wortho must have been looking at old tapes of the games and straight away noticed that Maybury hinders our attacks by always going long!!! Good move Wortho
