Akinbiyi, who has 18 months to run on his current contract, is keen to sign a new deal and would like to end his career at The Britannia Stadium.

Wigan and Sheffield United are interested in signing Akinbiyi and have already had bids rejected by Stoke for the player.

Stoke as yet have failed to meet Akinbiyi's demands over a new deal and the situation has frustrated the former Leicester and Crystal Palace striker.

"I sat myself down in John Rudge's (director of football) office, made myself comfortable and refused to move and after about an hour, John finally gave in and agreed to call the chairman," Akinbiyi told his official website.

"My persistence paid off and after speaking to the chairman for about an hour I was able to make it clear to him exactly how we all felt, myself and the other players and the general atmosphere at the club.

"I didn't hold back on anything. I felt confident that we had a positive and productive conversation in the sense that he understood where I was coming from about the

general atmosphere at the club and how it was affecting us all.".

are those two statements not the most big-headed things he could have said, anyone would have thought he was a world class striker the way he portrayed himself

he really is still a very bad player he should be grateful he's even got a club.

on an almost related point; i remember southampton at filbo (4-0) akinbiyi got goal of the month for november (i think) great achievment, except his was the only goal we scored that month! <_<

There's been a few Stoke players complaining about contracts, so I think that's what he was getting at. ;)

I feel sorry for Ade I really do. It wasn't his fault that Peter Taylor blew £5m on him because he was blind to the world outside his misty window.

It wasn't his fault that the prat who bought him thought that anyone could play in the Prem - so long as they stuck to the coaching manual.

It wasn't his fault that thicko Taylor didn't understand the implications of being dismissed from a Nigerian International training camp for being 'technically deficient.'

And it's not Ade's fault he doesn't understand that if you are on a single figure pay cheque there's a bloody good reason for it.
