I'm not THAT stupid. I was telling Maybes, that the 5th team was York City, but now they're not a league tea.,so that's why there's only four.

Fat Ron Posted 14 December 2007 Posted 14 December 2007 No, 'cos he was geniunly shocked that i didn't know it, and some other bloke said it was as well. Glasgow born Sunderland-based school teacher James Allan started the ‘Sunderland and District Teachers Association Football Club’ formed Sunderland A.F.C. on 17 October 1879. On 16 October 1880 the club changed its name to "Sunderland Teachers Association Football Club" ie the Teachers bit remained, but the statement which announced this indicated that the club opened its membership to all in order to relax financial troubles and increase the pool of players available to it. Sunderland Teachers AFC became Sunderland AFC on limited company status. Sunderland enjoyed an extremely "unhealthy" rivalry with Sunderland Albion F.C. (who confusingly had the same initials) until their demise in the early 20th century.Ironically it was James Allan who founded Albion after being voted off the Committee of Sunderland AFC although he had formed Albion prior to the meeting. From Wiki... Doesnt say that afte the names changed to Sunderland AFC that its for Association or Athletic.. although does imply Association. But if a Supporter told you it is for Athletic it really confuses me...
General Smuts Posted 14 December 2007 Posted 14 December 2007 It's Bury apparently, Good lad Slicker.
Fat Ron Posted 14 December 2007 Posted 14 December 2007 Town is their last name i think. Only other 1 I can think of is QPR... But that would be Queens Park Rangers as the registered name wouldnt it? EDIT : Just seen ELFF reply... Cheers!!
Fat Ron Posted 14 December 2007 Posted 14 December 2007 Here one to keep you going.... Name the 24 different last names for a team out of the 92 in England (e.g. City, United). EDIT : Theres 2 that I personally think are a Trick....but they are in the Answer so Ive put them in... See if you can guess them...
Zingari Posted 14 December 2007 Posted 14 December 2007 Eer, no it doesn't, it's Sunderland Athletic.I asked a Sunderland fan what the "a" was for and he said Athletic. try asking a sunderland fan that knows what he is talking about http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sunderland_A.F.C.
