davieG Posted 6 February 2005 Posted 6 February 2005 CL is now starting to shape his squad for next season, call me a pessimists but I think he's still got a mountain to climb based on my personal analysis of our current sqaud. First Team; Gillespie; Connolly, Maybury; De Vries; Squad Player; Walker; Canero; Tiatto; Heath; Stewart; Williams; Too Soon to Say; Wright; Logan, Stearman, Dawson; Hughes; Kisnorbo(Sp) Probably Not; Nalis; Scowcroft; Morris On Your Bike Mate; Dabizas; Dublin; Makin; Gemmill; Wilcox; Gudjonssen; Blake As you can see I've taken a rather harsh view of things but if we want to get promoted and stay promoted then I think it reflects a sense of realism therefore I'm only completely happy with 4 of our current sqad as definite first teamers, of course we have to hope that Hughes, Kisnorbo and possible Stearman, Dawson can bring that up to 8. I'm sure others will feel differently but I think we definitely need the following top quality first teamers with some degree of potential longevity with LCFC, A goalkeeper, 2 centre backs, 2 left sided players, 1 right midfielder, 1 defensive midfielder, I'm prepared to accept that Hughes and Williams fighting for the creative midfield role will do. Feel free to disagree and offer constructive alternatives but I'd prefer not to be called a twat or anything else along those lines - thanks for reading this
Scarby Posted 6 February 2005 Posted 6 February 2005 I think CL respects Gudjonsson so i think he can stay! im not sure why he isnt preforming like he did at Villa on many saturday he won Villa the 3 points with his work! And as for Walker as a squad player, i would love to disagree but i cant it is a shame its as if he has lost all confidence in himself but Walker can have another few seasons at the top level! Hughes will be a first team member next year CL knows what he wants and he wants top flight football so he woulsnt sign anyone that isnt good enough MDV, Maybury and Stevie Hiughes will all be here for a long time hopefully! CL has a massive task ahead but im sure he is right for the job, i have a very good feeling with this guy and players he has got in!! We Will Be Back and it will be sooner rather later

Ricey Posted 6 February 2005 Posted 6 February 2005 It is only the beginning of the rebuilding job but Levein appears to have the right idea in signing young, cheap players with something to prove. I've been very much encouraged by the long term plan Levein is underway with at the moment, shall be interesting to see who goes and who comes in during the summer.
Steven Posted 6 February 2005 Posted 6 February 2005 CL is on the right track, and I give him until the tenth game of the 06/07 season until I will rush to judgement.
