gazzer Posted 4 June 2007 Posted 4 June 2007 Thinking of buying a house up Abbey Lane. Looking for some local knowledge. Anyone know any sound reason why I shouldn't ? Prices are low and I reckon its an upcoming area what with all the regeneration going on. http://www.leicesterregeneration.co.uk/keyprojects.html
a-fox Posted 4 June 2007 Posted 4 June 2007 loads of lads from mowacre hill and stocking farm ride stolen mo peds down there rough pubs, piss heads everywhere,
Lillehamring Posted 4 June 2007 Posted 4 June 2007 probably about 5 years too late, but still a sound investment compared to a lot of places - just made a nice profit in woodgate, but another 5-10 years i could've retired, couldn't wait to leave...

Ha ha - done a bit of research and now looking at Woodgate/Anstey Lane as a better bet - similar pricing plus closer to town. Plan to only stay there on weekends (hopefully in time for the new season) unless I can get work in the area but my daughter's at Gateway and will be there full time and my wife about half the year...
Ultra Posted 4 June 2007 Posted 4 June 2007 Woodgate would be the better bet - as long as you stay out of the pubs around there!

OriginalRobboFOX Posted 5 June 2007 Posted 5 June 2007 Woodgate would be the better bet - as long as you stay out of the pubs around there! I live off Woodgate and the only pub I would say stay out of is Don Gorgons when it re-opens... The Forro's and The Northbridge are all fine, as was the Robin Hood when it was open, you can also sample the Portugese way of life in Madeira.... S'all gravy.....
Ultra Posted 5 June 2007 Posted 5 June 2007 I know folk who work near the Northbridge, they're not over-impressed with it. And I don't think you'll see the Friar Tuck/Don Gorgon reopen this decade. Agree with you about Madeira though, it looks cool!

Probably be the guy that does All Sports Show. made a tidy profit on woodgate and now moved in to a semi just off anstey lane . abbey lane is fine , mate lives few doors from the cob shop and he gets no trouble , further up abbey lane near mcd and blockbuster tends to be a bit rough . woodgate pubs maderia has cheap beer but lacks atmosphere foresters is good , 2 big screens and shows all the sport , nice owners and they sponsor our football team northbridge is always empty now although original robbo fox will say otherwise stay out of the ship ! worst beer ever tasted
