can frogs see in the dark?

Good question I hear you say. I shall explain the reason for asking. Where I am working a croak of frogs (I don't know the collective noun for a group of frogs but croak is as good as any other word) have escaped from the cellar and invaded the ground floor level which includes our guardbase. I thought it was just one at first that had somehow managed to get in from outside but after somebody had visited to read a meter I went down and there are loads of them and because the cellar was flooded the cellar door was open so the frogs must have climbed the cellar steps to get out.

Anyway I put a dish of water out for George W and Sadam and when I locked up I had to turn the light out and it is very dark. I just hope they are OK and the SO whose on tomorrow does not fail to see them and trample them to death.

BTW the cellar was flooded because somebody had turned the pump off that pumps out the rainwater.

The owners saving money on the fuel bills.

Thank you for letting me share this tale with you.

You are a bit odd arnt you?

Many animals that are active at night have a reflecting layer behind the retina. This layer is called a tapetum (tapeta when you mean more than one). The tapeta help animals see better in the dark by giving the little light that enters the eyes a second chance to stimulate light-sensing cells.

Animals with tapeta include skunks, deer, frogs, and cats.

drunk? at 4.30 in the morning? I had not long got back from work. I don't know about being odd. I do have a wierd sense of humour sometimes and the oddness comes across in my writing when I observe certain situations. My job can be a boring and a little lonely at times so incidents such as the frogs visit is the most exciting thing to happen. Anyway I'd rather see the frogs than burglars with baseball bats.

Is that a challenge?

Probably, but it's one I'd fail dismally at. :dunno:

I don't even attempt to post tidily when I'm pissed... it's just too hard.
