I think a few scars are a certainty. Neither Mrs NW or the boy have had CP so I'm sort of quarantined... Have you been in contact with someone with CP over the past 15 days? Shingles is not infectious. Chicken pox is.

I don't think so, although with it having an incubation period, you don't know straight away. I thought that if you had shingles, you could give CP to someone that hadn't had CP. Of course, this is probably wrong. The other possibility is just some weird infection. I'm hoping the docs will give me a call today with some test results.
Vacamion Posted 11 July 2007 Posted 11 July 2007 If it IS shingles, I feel sorry for you. I had it last year. Bleedin ' orrible. I was told that the yellow pus that comes out when the scabs come off (Mmmmm) IS infectious, and that I should stay away from people who haven't had CP (and people I knew to be pregnant) at that stage... Watch out for lasting damage to the nerve line along which the shingles develop. I had it on my head, and was left with all kinds of weird and wonderful effects on the nerves (cold water drips, needles, burning). The doctor said these can take up to TWO YEARS to vanish and the drugs they gave me to combat this basically surpressed my nerves and turned me into a dopy slobbering wreck. Hope it's something else.
