Molson Canadian Posted 12 September 2007 Posted 12 September 2007 Canada Vs. Costa Rica Friendly it's on TV right now here in Canada. The game is being played in Toronto and just thought i would give a report on Hume. He's named to the squad but is not in the starting 11 he's on the bench instead Dwayne De Rosario and Ali Gerba have been given the start upfront, Hume will most probobly come on later on during the game. Before the game started there was a awards presentation, Dwayne De Rosario was awarded the Canadian Football Player of the Year award and Julian De Guzman was awarded the MVP trophy of the Gold Cup this is the first time a MVP of the Gold Cup Tournament has been on a team who did not win the tournament. current 0-0
Molson Canadian Posted 12 September 2007 Author Posted 12 September 2007 playing in goal for Canada is Lars Hirschfeld who played for leicester, he is currently with Rosenborg
Koke Posted 12 September 2007 Posted 12 September 2007 I heard positive things about that De Rosario character. Who does he play for and how would you rate him?
Molson Canadian Posted 12 September 2007 Author Posted 12 September 2007 I heard positive things about that De Rosario character. Who does he play for and how would you rate him? he plays in the MLS for the Houston Dynamo, he is 29 now but i always felt he would have had a chance in English football at the championship and league 1 level. Here's some info on him http://www.canadasoccer.com/eng/nationals/...rid=6⊂=3 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dwayne_De_Rosario
Koke Posted 12 September 2007 Posted 12 September 2007 Cheers. And one more question. How do the Canadians over there rate Hume? Higher than De Rosario and Guzman?
Molson Canadian Posted 12 September 2007 Author Posted 12 September 2007 Cheers. And one more question. How do the Canadians over there rate Hume? Higher than De Rosario and Guzman? De Guzman and Paul Stalteri are the 2 highest rated Canadian players i would say. As far as Hume goes, Canadian soccer fans love him for his intensity and great passion for the game which is no different everytime he steps on the pitch for leicester, he is rated as one of Canada's top strikers along with De Rosario, Ali Gerba, Rob Friend, and Oliver Ocean. 0-0 Halftime
Molson Canadian Posted 13 September 2007 Author Posted 13 September 2007 Final Score 1-1 Goalscorers De Rosario for Canada, Nunez for Costa Rica Hume came on and was played in a attacking right midfield role and he was all over the pitch creating plays and showing some nice touches he worked well with julian de guzman and sent in some nice crosses and passes to the forwards. The commentators kept talking about Hume's jumping and heading ability and show how high he can get up for ball's despite his size. Overall a good game from Hume who was really fired up and showed alot of passion and intensity. Canada were unlucky to win this one.
