Kilworthfox Posted 9 October 2007 Author Posted 9 October 2007 It's not like he's a bad manager and he keeps getting jobs... he's been in the same job for nearly six years now, hasn't he? He must be doing something right to hold down the job for six years in today's game. Besides, with two promotions and an extended stay in the top flight, it's absurd to call him one of the worst managers. Just because you don't think he's got good looks, unlike a certain M. Fulop. The real bad managers are those that get a job, do spectacularly badly, and then get hired again. Peter Taylor's career should have been finished when we sacked him... but somehow he bounced back. He'll do it again, no doubt. Chris Hutchings. I wouldn't put him on the list either. Yet. See... he only had a 21 game stretch. Granted it was a bad stretch, but it was his first gig. Besides, he hasn't got off to too bad a start at Wigan. If he relegates another team, then perhaps we could add him. But for now, there's much worse out there. I don't rate him! Hey don't opress my opinions you! I prefer Megson to Bruce
Geo V Posted 9 October 2007 Posted 9 October 2007 Glen Roeder He must be up there or down there if you know what I mean? He is typical of a very good football coach who isnt quite at it as a manager. Ive taken this from Wiki which isn't always accurate but from memory he gets clubs relegated so I think its about right..... Roeder spent only one season as manager of Gillingham, during which time he led the side to 13 wins in 51 games and saw them finish second from bottom of the Football League, escaping relegation after winning against bottom club Halifax Town in the penultimate fixture of the season Roeder was hired as the new manager of his former club, Watford, at the start of the 1993/94 season. In his second season with Watford he almost took the side to the play-offs, eventually finishing just one place outside them. However, he was sacked in February 1996 as the side were struggling near the bottom of the First Division. His replacement, Graham Taylor, was unable to prevent the side from being relegated. West Ham were bottom at Christmas and at that time no team had avoided relegation from that position. Despite the January signings of Rufus Brevett, Lee Bowyer on a short-term deal and Les Ferdinand, and the best efforts of Sir Trevor Brooking in the last few games, the team was relegated from the Premiership. I wont bore you with all the Newcastle stuff but he did well initially in helping them from the bottom to 7th as acting manager and then got the fulltime job. After guiding Newcastle to just one win in ten games, Roeder was summoned to an emergency board meeting on May 6, 2007. It was revealed he had resigned with immediate effect.
Nationwider Posted 11 October 2007 Posted 11 October 2007 Ossie Ardiles always struck me as a bit of a mentalist.
mancunianfox Posted 12 October 2007 Posted 12 October 2007 I don't rate him! Hey don't opress my opinions you! I prefer Megson to Bruce Just because you don'rate him doesn't mean he's awful. He has had a successful management career and though he may not be a great manager he is certainly no worse than average. Roeder on the other has done nothing and is probably the worst manager I can think of to be given the chance to manage several top flight teams. Even Peter Taylor has had some success in his career so he couldn't be described as the worst manager either, even if his time with us was a f**k up from start to finish.
