Father Ted Posted 22 October 2007 Posted 22 October 2007 SKY SPORTS: Mark Clattenburg will not referee a Premier League match this weekend in the wake of his display in the Merseyside derby. The Professional Game Match Board, who oversee referees and make appointments for top-flight games, confirmed that Clattenburg would not be involved in the latest round of fixtures. Everton manager David Moyes was fiercely critical of the official's display at Goodison Park, where he awarded Liverpool two penalties and dismissed Tony Hibbert and Phil Neville. Moyes was also unimpressed that Clattenburg only showed Dirk Kuyt a yellow card for a reckless two-footed lunge on Neville, and the Everton were denied a penalty in the closing seconds when Joleon Lescott appeared to be wrestled to the floor by Jamie Carragher. Liverpool came from behind to win the match 2-1 with Kuyt converting both penalties after Sami Hyypia's own goal had given the home side the lead.
Father Ted Posted 22 October 2007 Author Posted 22 October 2007 TBH I think that Clattenburg needs to be banned from refereeing forever, especially after Villa last year when him and He who shall not be named (Low) virtually single-handedly knocked us out of the cup
Mack Posted 22 October 2007 Posted 22 October 2007 Without doubt, out of all the major European footballing Nations we have the worst referees of all. And the reason? Because this jumped up bunch of pricks we have for referees think they are the stars. They want to make the back page headlines and they think they should be the centre of attention. It was plainly obvious to me that during the International break they all had a get together and meeting with Hackett their illustrious leader. And sure enough come the first Saturday back all the common sense was out the window and they were sending people off left right and centre as per instruction. So many times you watch a game from one of the other big European leagues and you forget the referee is on the pitch, GREAT! to me that means the Ref is doing his job properly. I've heard all the defences trotted out by fellow lower league and amateur refs and their retired celebrity ex-ref mates who love a TV and radio interview. OK it's not easy at times to be a referee, BUT if fans and spectators can see there was common sense and goodwill towards the game of football in all your decisions then you will hardly ever go wrong. The pricks refereeing our game in the Premier League and the Championship this season are on the whole a laughing stock, I've not seen a lower league game yet this season but from what I've been told some of the time it's even more laughable than the big leagues, and until all their motive and focus is on the good of the game rather than their own careers and celebrity it will just get worse and worse.
purpleronnie Posted 22 October 2007 Posted 22 October 2007 Did he come out and apologise for his poor decisions?

Agree with all of that. The refereeing at the moment has no costincey (sp) to it at all.Theirs been times down the Walkers when one of our players have commited an obvious foul but got away with it so i'm not really blinkered towards the other side.
Boycie Posted 22 October 2007 Posted 22 October 2007 To be honest i think Liverpool got abit of luck that they deserve, after the Chelsea game where they were robbed i think they deserved to get away with a few decisions going there way. Also the Manchester United Chelsea game where Chelsea wrongly had John Obi Mikel sent off, so certain referee's like Mark Clattenburg, Rob Styles and Mike Dean cannot referee in the bigger games.
Micky Ruddle Posted 22 October 2007 Posted 22 October 2007 Remember City vs Villa. Walkers Stad. 2-3 Penalty Who was ref? Mark Clatten-useless-w@nker. Not surprised..very poor.
