Lenny Glover ,more pace ,flair ,skill and charisma.Getting sent down on a drugs rap was totally predictable and enhances the legend.

Typical of a part time pete stuck in the dreamland of 1970s football, Steve Guppy could cross and strike a ball better than drug dealin Glover any day.- plus he won a trophy! It doesnt matter any way because i have heard from a realiable South American Football expert, Birchinio, that Rivaldo is coming at the end of Jan and will surpass all other wingers before him.

Besides the current squad still needs addressing like gettin a reliable centre half, right back- who doesnt give the ball away all the time, a right winger with skill n pace n be able to cross it , plus a lighting quick forward who can break the defensive line!

Can i have staffy terrier for my birthday?

Hey Thracian I am interested in your opinions and reasons why Glover was better !! please elaborate for me !!

Lenny was one of the most dangerous wingers in English football, a genuine wide man who was fast, positive, direct and entertaining. He'd take anyone on and give em a nightmare. He didn't flight the ball like Guppy but really hit his crosses hard into dangerous places and, with players like Worthington on the end it was a sight to behold.

He was consistent, a real favourite of the Filbert Street crowd, and pretty strong too for a winger, not at all the sort that got pushed off the ball by some of the thugs they had for full-backs in those days.

He wasn't what I'd call a dribbler in the Matthews sense. He took people on in full flight using a drop of the shoulders or fast swerve to wrong foot them. Scored a fair number of decent goals too, 38 in 245 League appearances for Leicester and another 20 in 177 games for Charlton. A true legend who was a joy to watch.

Without doubt he was one of my favourite City players of all time. But, although I played as a left-winger sometimes, I didn't ever copy him. Davie Gibson and Denis Law were the people I tried to emulate because of their precision passing and good shooting. I even ran a bit bow-legged like Gibbo while holding my shirt cuffs, sitting on my passes and having the arm raised goal salute of Law. Aren't we daft when we're kids. :D

Glover wasn't an option I'm afraid cos, while I could run a long, long way, I never ran nearly as fast as him.

Lenny "the legend" Glover without a shadow of a doubt..... I am slightly biased though as he was my all time favourite City player maybe it was because as a kid i used to play winger for the school football team and used to love going down to filbert street to watch Lenny play 90% of his game about 2foot from the touchline..... there was always a upturn in the crowds expectation when Lenny picked up the ball and ploughed his furrow down the wing leaving many a full back stranded

Yeah, but how good was Glover between the sticks?

The rumours of a sexual relationship with Roger "Sticks" Davies were never fully substantiated so I'm afraid that unfortunately we'll probably never know......:kissing:lol

Don't know if anyone has seen the inside sports page of the mockery tonight. It shows a brilliant picture of the one and only Lenny Glover in a terrific pose where he is about to send the ball over into the box where no doubt Frankie Wortho was waiting !!! I am having a constant debate with my workmate as to who was the better out of Lenny Glover or Steve Lynex. Who stirred the crowd more ? Who was the best dribbler ? For me it is Lenny every time no contest, what do you think ? Whats your fav memory of either player ?

Glover under Jimmy Bloomfield was "Absolute Dynamite"
