Rincewind Posted 27 January 2008 Posted 27 January 2008 Anyway I thought psychologists were supposed to study the behavior of people and help them overcome any problems that they have, not if a person comes to the complainibg of hearing voices not to say to them 'Eff off you nutter'
Lineker's Left Foot Posted 28 January 2008 Posted 28 January 2008 What about when they leave prison? The only trade they will know is the one that got them put inside in the first place. Plus too harsh treatment will harden them and they'll take it out on the public if/when released. Simple... they should never leave. Prison needs to act as a deterrent to stop people commiting criminal acts in the first place, NOT as a rehabilitation centre where they attempt to change behaviour. Prevention, as they say, is better than cure, thus having harsh prisons is less likely to make people consider committing criminal acts - whereas using the rehab. route means they need to have undertaken a criminal act in the first place.
Rincewind Posted 29 January 2008 Posted 29 January 2008 You've obviously given this a lot of thought. Life for every crime does seem a teeny weeny bit harsh though.
Zingari Posted 29 January 2008 Posted 29 January 2008 still 50:50 come on make your minds up , theres people waiting to be strung up and they'll catch their death o'cold standing about in this weather
Rincewind Posted 29 January 2008 Posted 29 January 2008 If the poll is an indication of the opinions of the country as a whole it will be difficult for any government to bring in a policy that decides whether certain people live or die on what can be regarded as a toin coss.
