Koke Posted 3 February 2008 Posted 3 February 2008 I was knackered at the end.... its never good when the fans are in more of a sweat than the players at the final whistle!!! At least it helps you keep warm in those freezing conditions
blackpoollad Posted 3 February 2008 Posted 3 February 2008 Sorry people me again, im not here to brag as i thought both teams were poor but we finally got a bit of luck and won. But I just want to congradulate your support. The fans near the home end were superb and considering that joke of an away end you were housed in you really made some noise. And a couple of witty chants too. I posted on an earlier thread that I apologise in advance for the away end, so i'll say it again, im really sorry you had to sit in there.

We wanted you in May but the FA or whoever made the fixtures screwed us over. I noticed the away stand is only temporary. When will the away fans get a proper stand with roof over their head?
blackpoollad Posted 3 February 2008 Posted 3 February 2008 As soon as our penny pinching chairman decides to pull his finger out and get it started. We have been promised all sorts for a long time but we never get it and the supporters are very embarrassed about it. But as it was another sell out he might hopefully realise he has to get it built. Really enjoyed the banter with your fans today, most were proper football fans by the looks of it which is always good, noticed the lads that got chucked out had no colours on today, just hooligan gear on. I feared for you safety tough in that stand all that bouncing, the stoke fans nearly collapsed the stand doing the same and it had to be shut. Hopefully we will both stay up this year and you get to come to Blackpool in the summer instead.
Bert Posted 3 February 2008 Posted 3 February 2008 Alnwick 6 - Very brave, great punches and catches, nothing he could do about the goals, weather didn't help kicking. Mattock 4 - Where was he for the first goal, struggled like mad today. Stearman 5 - Dealt fairly well with Houlahan, always looked to support the right winger. Kisnorbo 4 - Was like a lost child today. McAuley 5 - Calm and collected but still wasn't great. Lazcko 4 - One game wonder? Very poor, seen nothing from him since Coventry. Hume 6 - Needs to start up front, worked hard, persistance paid off with an assist, Why he was brought off, i don't know. Clem 5 - 1st half: headless chicken - 2nd half: Imposed himself more, and tried to run the game. Oakley 5 - Great tackling, and surging runs, but there's more to come from him. Howard 5 - Didn't win anything, lucky goal. Hayles 6 - Motm, never let anything stop him, defended well, harried, countered well. Cult hero. Subs: DJ 5 - Changed the game as we went more direct, high balls weren't helping him though. Chambers 5 - Did ok, why he isn't in the starting eleven is beyond me. Bori n/a Fans were superb today, it was freezing, windy and wet, and with no roof, we tried our best to get a decent atmosphere and have a good time. Officials - Coonts. Had a good day, with some great people, shame we couldn't hold on, would've been happy with a point.

Shame about the game and more particularly the result.
blackpoollad Posted 3 February 2008 Posted 3 February 2008 Cheers pal, game was dour. Without trying to sound bigheaded because its impossible to do that been a Blackpool supporter, but alot of championship teams have come to Blackpool and thought our support is loud, thought we were pretty average today, but maybe that was because you lot were loud and it shocked us as not many teams have made a noise in that stand. Only Stoke have been louder in that stand. Shame we couldnt have played you at our place forst, then at least at your ground on a day like today/yesterday (forget what time were on) everyone would have been undercover. Enjoyed my day out there in August.

Maybes Posted 3 February 2008 Posted 3 February 2008 Alnwick 6.5 - Didn't really have a chance with either goal. Poor defending. Mattock 4 - Another weak game. Oh well hes only young and is still learning. Stearman 5 - OK game. Did well going forward. Hoolahan was a handful for him though. Kisnorbo 4 - Pretty much non - existence for long spells. McAuley 5 - Not much better than McAuley Lazcko 3.5 - Absolute garbage. Ran around like a headless chicken. Seemed not to have a scooby what was going on. Hume 5 - Another average to poor game on the right wing. When will holloway learn that his is a winger and play someone who is. Clem 6 - Poor first half but who wasn't. A lot better in the second tried to ochestrate the the game. Oakley 5 - Went missing for long spells. As Bert said, good tackling but nothing to offer going forward. Howard 4.5 - Worst game in a city shirt so far. Poor in the air, passing wasn't great. Right place right time for the goal. Hayles 6.5 - What can you say...When we first signed him I was very sceptical. He gave it everything today looked very commited and put his body on the line when it matter most. Tracked back aswell as a threat going forward. Subs: DJ 5 - Pretty inefectual. Changed our attack added pace, as to be expected. Not enough balls to his feet though. Chambers 5.5 - Looked solid at left back. Should be starting there next week IMO. Bori 5 - Purely becuase he was only on for 5 mins or so? Their goal looked very offside hence the linesman got abused to high heaven. Was a good day out . . . had a laugh. About as far as it goes.

I didn't think it was that good to be honest. 2/3 of the stand didn't muster a word all game. Oh and just to add..."we're stoke and we're game as fook???"
blackpoollad Posted 3 February 2008 Posted 3 February 2008 I thought it was loud compared to other fans, like i said I honestly think only stoke have been louder, but its a hard task making noise in that "stand" Yea i know we STOLE them 3points in August, to be fair though our two games against you is the only time we have had any luck, we have battered alot of teams and got nothing from the game, so to play badly twice and win twice against you guys makes up for it . We have seen worse teams higher up the league than your lads so keep your chins up because you wont go down.....Prescum, Scunnt and Colchester I think will go....I hope anyway

We found that out when they came to the walkers. Scunny preston and colchester have all been pretty poor this season however I think we have yet to beat any of them in this campaign. Drawing 2 and losing to preston. I can only hope we take at least 6points from the 9 available when we play them all at home. However that is a big ask as our home form is pretty sketchy.

An old guy came up to us in the car park when we arrived, and apologised for the away end!! You must be really embarrassed! By the way, were my ears deceiving me? Was that really UB40 - Food for Thought? If so, good tune!! Did you really think our vocal support was loud? I didn't think it was that good to be honest. 2/3 of the stand didn't muster a word all game. I was ill. That's my excuse. I didn't even call that linesman who went off a tosser when he quite clearly was, that's how ill I was.
blackpoollad Posted 3 February 2008 Posted 3 February 2008 If that was you away end wouldnt you be embarrassed??? it is shocking, the only fans we wont to see in that shocking attempt at a stand is Preston fans. The liner that went off was crying apparently. and the stand in 4th official who put the board up for subs and stuff was one of our drummers... which UB40 song are you talking about??? I dont know we just sing them
Guest Chocolate Teapot Posted 3 February 2008 Posted 3 February 2008 Alnwick 6 (Seemed okay. Quite positive and reliable. On rare occasions when he mishandled he was under enormous pressure which he dealty with bravely). Stearman 6 (One of our better players. Looked sharp but never imposed himself on the game) Kisnorbo 4.5 (Woeful. Blackpool were never marauding attackers but they had some speed and skill and City's defence was exposed too easily. As for his passing I just despair. On one particular occasion he could have pushed a simple five yard ball to Mattock but elected instead to pickout Hayles. It was a simple pass but he topped it and gave possession straight to Blackpool) McAuley 5 (Not much better than Kisnorbo. Any team who has speed and movement will cause us trouble and that was clearly demonstrated on several occasions today) Mattock 3.5 (Only played the one half. He'd disappeared for the goal and, while he did make one or tackles as the team collectively improved slightly after the disastrous first five minutes I cannot remember a single telling contribution. Some will claim I'd mark him low anyway but I was actually determined to make sure he got the benefit of any doubts. There were none. If only he'd play like with the belief he showed in the Youth Cup). Hume 6.25 (Almost saved the game with his assist and tried so hard to make something of a difficult situation. Why he was subbed only Holloway can explain but, unless he was injured, I really saw no point in it. Substitutions can easily disrupt a side if only temporarily and to my mind should have a purpose). Oakley 5.5 (Had his moments but never wrested control of midfield for any time. Offered very little threat to goal) Clemence 5.5 (Similar to Oakley really. Had the odd chance but never looked like scoring and didn't create much either. I really expect far more from both our senior central midfielders) Laczko 4 (Looked as if he wanted to do well but in fact seems to have stopped being a winger altogether now. When he's out wide he's often standing defending throw-ins with the full-back. But he also has this habit of drifting into midfield and contracting all the space which means the midfielders couldn't play defence splitting balls if they saw em. Moving infield is fine is someone else moves wide but this didn't happen. Even when an occasional cross came in Laczko was in the middle and there was no-one at the far post where the ball landed. He never ran at his full-back or seriously tried to get behind the defence all game. I've seen yet to suggest he's in Gradel's class. His best asset seems to be in winning a few headers but never in places where they're likely to hurt anyone). Howard 6.75 (One real chance, one goal. Otherwise was largely starved of opportunity and support. Needs much better service all round). Hayles 6 (Looked quite lively and positive at times but was mostly kept too far from goal and faded fast second half). Campbell 6 (I like the guy in many ways. He's elusive and persistent. Asks questions and wormed his way into one particularly good position but failed to deliver the angled shot he needed. I'll be glad when he's back to his best if we somehow uncover midfielders to supply him. J. Chambers 5.5 (Was too far away to know he he might have closed the cross down leading to the winning goal but otherwise tried to be positive down the left and had a couple of dangerous runs right up to the box but, as ever, looked awkward and uncertain with his final pass. Not a left-back. Bori 4 Nominal mark cos I honestly didn't notice anything of note one way or the other in the short time he was on the field. Moment of the match: Their mascot when he chucked his drumsticks on the pitch after beating his drum and trying in vain to get some life out of Blackpool's main stand fans. These are the best rating I have seen so far I love it how everyone is giving Howard abuse, when he played relatively well. How can you expect him to win every ball in the air, you cannot. But I thought Clemence and Oakley did control the midfield when they got the chance most of the time though we just hoofed it long on a very windy day.

blackpoollad Posted 3 February 2008 Posted 3 February 2008 Oh yea so it is, I never knew that until now. I wondered why my mum always whistled that tune even though she never goes to any games.....your old east stand surely cannot be any worse than our "new" east stand, our permanent temporary away end

Yeah a geezer I know who sat down the end by the entrance told me he thought it was pretty quiet, but was fooking loud where I was. What you get without a roof I spose.
JakeShingler Posted 3 February 2008 Posted 3 February 2008 Alnwick - 4 Stearman - 5 Kisnorbo - 5 McAuley - 8 Mattock - 4 Hume - 7 Oakley - 5 Clemence - 5 Laczko - 4 Howard - 6 Hayles - 6 Campbell - 7 J. Chambers - 4 Bori - 5
