Fox in a Box Posted 2 April 2005 Posted 2 April 2005 "Mac the man" Macarthy He was outstanding today. B) I was within 15 yds of the goal line save, I stood up as that was a great goalline clearance in the 'stevie walsh' style... dubbers also had a good game. Nalis no no no no no, wakey wakey....... better be better on tuesday!
Anish Posted 2 April 2005 Posted 2 April 2005 The standing ovation for McCarthy after that clearance was remarkable! It was a truly magnificent piece of defending, and he was great throughout the game. My MOTM would be Gillespie though, I thought we played so much better when he came on.
Fox in a Box Posted 2 April 2005 Author Posted 2 April 2005 gilly has been a revalation since CL came to the club, BIG MAC did shade it................. BIG MAC n DEFRIES please! Quality I'm going down in history for that one B)
Chimp Posted 2 April 2005 Posted 2 April 2005 It was a damn good job he cleared the ball from the line - it was his fault that it happened in the first place, he didn't chase back but assumed that the ball would reach Walker, bad mistake tbh. Man of the Match - Dion Dublin.
jordo11 Posted 2 April 2005 Posted 2 April 2005 i would go for paddy he won everything he was brilliant when i came to the goalline clearance WELL DONE PADDY
Wellman Posted 2 April 2005 Posted 2 April 2005 i would go for paddy he won everything he was brilliant when i came to the goalline clearance WELL DONE PADDY 86732 Same here Although I thought Dion had a good game as well Hughes once again
Louise Posted 2 April 2005 Posted 2 April 2005 For me it would probably have gone to Stearman if he'd played a bit longer, but as he didn't, its Hughes for me. So energetic, playing out of position most of the time but he didn't look out of place, put in some good corners and crosses too.

Come up with a city chant for Big Mac & De Vries and we could receive some royalties for city.

Firstly it was his fault that the ball was near the goal as he let the ball through. Secondly he failed to clear the ball which ended up as a corner from which they scored, but he did have a good game, good cross for De Vries Williams my man of the match he was outstanding
Durnerz Posted 3 April 2005 Posted 3 April 2005 Mccarthy or Hughes for me, both out of position, both never let us down.
Who ate all the pies? Posted 3 April 2005 Posted 3 April 2005 McCarthy all the way. He was solid at both centre back and full back, he cleared off the line (when I was convinced it was in) and he helped set up two goals (cross for Devries and header down for Stearman). No contest really! Stearman may have been man of the match, but some Millwall twat hacked him down a ruined a great game by him.

Leicester_Mad Posted 3 April 2005 Posted 3 April 2005 Williams was hardly in the game? First half i dont even recall him making a telling pass/tackle, stepped up in the 2nd half but very quiet by his part. Hughes gets mine
Sam Posted 3 April 2005 Posted 3 April 2005 I think De Vries had a really good game and tried hard throughout whereas Connolly never really tries hard enough and if he does something wrong he looks for any excuse he can find. He might run around a bit everyone seems to applaud him for it but is that all he can do. He has scored a few goals in a row but how many have been penalties. I think it's 3 penalties from his last 4 goals. People might agree with me about this but I know a lot of people won't but look at him more closely and you'll see how much work he actually does as a striker. Back to the subject though I'd have to pick Stearman didnt put a foot wrong all the little time he played. He got what looked like a headbutt and a vicious foul which ended his game. We might have some trouble keeping hold of him but then again may bring little bit more money in.
Ash Posted 3 April 2005 Posted 3 April 2005 I think De Vries had a really good game 87031 He won nothing in the air, hardly saw the ball...I thought he was poor !
Sam Posted 3 April 2005 Posted 3 April 2005 He tried hard, got into good space, turned well on the ball, had great first touch, got into the penalty area and he did win quite a few headers compared to some of his previous games. I think it's fair to say that is more than Connolly has done once this season

I think it's fair to say that is more than Connolly has done once this season 87043 Connolly -Runs with the ball -Good movement -Great touch -Won the penalty -Always wants the ball -Links up with the rest of the team better
Sam Posted 3 April 2005 Posted 3 April 2005 He doesn't want the ball unless it's played straight to him if its half a metre to the side of him he just stands there and won't chase it. He can't cross a ball and if he can only score with no players pressuring him then that's not really good enough. I will admit though he can take a good penalty that's it though there is a lot of pressure when taking 1 but that is all he can do.
Macca4lcfc Posted 4 April 2005 Posted 4 April 2005 How anyon can say de vries played well is beyond me, hes wank!
