Chairman of the Bored Posted 23 June 2008 Posted 23 June 2008 The film of the book is in production http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/7465076.stm. Not sure if there has been a thread about this, but the book is amazing. It's easily the best footy book I've read (ever!). Really gripping stuff. It's a faction about Brian Clough and his 44 days at Leeds (with his Shaggers and 'Pool experience thrown in for good measure). Am looking forward to seeing the film!

I hope the film lives up to the book. *edit* I've just watched the clip - that looked smashing. I can see this becoming a must-see in the Daggers house.

Michael Sheen is by all accounts awesome.
Ultra Posted 23 June 2008 Posted 23 June 2008 I've seen him play Tony Blair in a couple of films. He's a quality actor - and he has the Clough mannerisms spot on!
RedHux Posted 24 June 2008 Posted 24 June 2008 The Clough family weren't too happy with the book. I can see why really it does have a Leeds-centric view what with the author being a yorkshireman and all. I liked it though. As long as you know it's fiction it's a decent read. Interested to see the film and that Sheen fellow is rather good.

Chairman of the Bored Posted 24 June 2008 Author Posted 24 June 2008 Fiction; faction; fantasy.........whatever, it was brilliantly written with some real tension.
