SussexFox Posted 31 July 2008 Posted 31 July 2008 If you want to qualify that I'm listening. well personally i don't even reckon he's in the top 10 players we have at the club - i would put him behind Gradel, Adams and Dyer in the pecking order on the wing

What as he ever done at this club??........Absolutely shocking statement!!!
Thracian Posted 31 July 2008 Posted 31 July 2008 Agreed!!!!!!! how can anyone say Levis is one of the best players at club, its a joke!!!What as he ever done at this club??........Absolutely shocking statement!!! Well he had seven assists and three goals in 30 starts during his first and only first team season which when added together puts him ahead of any central midfielder or winger we've had at the club for two seasons. That's more than Clemence, Oakley, Weso and all the misfiring wingers we had. And, with two spectacular goals and at least five assists alredy in pre-season there's no suggestion that he's lost his touch. In a far more attacking side there's every reason to believe his stats would be even better and he also has the benefit of a damned good engine that enables him to do a hefty share of covering too. There is no question to me that he's a much more threatening midfield player than Oakley is now and that he would compliment our wingers Gradel/Adams/Dyer immensely, not to mention our strikers, because he can thread the vital through balls they need to feed off.

I like your match reports and you are obviously a reasonably intelligent guy, but why do you persist in winding up people on the board with statements like "Levi Porter is the best player at the club". Surely you don't really believe that? I like the guy and hope he does well for my team (as I do every player who pulls on the blue shirt) but how is he the "best" aside from the bare statistics (which can be made to show anything - and we are only relying on your info anyway)? I don't remember too many outstanding first team performances. I have watched football for 30 years and can't say Levi has blown me away with anything to suggest he's the wonder boy you make out. You did the same with Dodds and Sheehan, both of whom have moved onwards (but hardly upwards). Is the whole football world wrong about them as well as Levi? Seriously, I think you have been kidding everyone for the last few years with provocative comments for the sake of them. I am not questioning yours (or anyone's) right to an opinion and I like the way you back the youth team (to an extent), but there are hundreds of pages of this board taken up with when people think you're being serious.

Surely you don't really believe that? He didn't say that - he said "One of the best players at the club", a statement I believe is true and provable given a run in a position he is suited to (which isn't the left-wing). And why is holding a contrary viewpoint 'winding up people'? If you don't share the point of view you can either argue against it, smile at the comment and shrug knowingly or place him on ignore. And why the hell am I defending Thracian all of a damn sudden? Death, Pestilence, War and the other horseman I can not remember must be arriving shortly.
