Thracian Posted 11 August 2008 Posted 11 August 2008 Nonsense... kids choose winners pure and simple. Doesn't matter how attractive you are, if you are languishing in mid table you'll be overlooked for a Man U or Chelsea who are winning trophies.Kids want to look good at school and have bragging rights... losing 4-3 but looking good means nothing to them, because the other kids supporting winners will still rip into them. Nice to see you keeping up you 'campaign' against Pearson though. I suppose you believe Manchester United have become the biggest club in the world on the back of lousy football. United have tried to play exciting, entertaining football from the time I first watched them in the days of Best, Law and Charlton and it is the success of that approach that has helped them become so well supported by people who have no connection real connection with Manchester at all. Chelsea won things but Abramovich is so desperate to win things with the panache of United that he even got rid of Grtant in the elusive search for the Holy Grail of winning in style. George Graham won things but is hadly revered and is certainly not being touted by any I hear as the way forward. Even as a kid I never gave a shit about bragging rights. I supported City whatever but still had a soft spot for teams who believed in attacking their way to victory like United, the Liverpool of Dalglish, the Leeds of Revie and the Spurs of Nicholson. You're welcome to your dour views and your support for whoever's in charge whatever approach they take. But don't try to suggest I have any campaign against Pearson just because it suits your jaundiced outlook and helps you have another knock at me. It is not even 1% true. I criticised Pearson's negativity after we'd taken the lead first and foremost because I believe he can be a brilliant manager and Leicester can now be a brilliant team - if only he shows some belief in what they can do and if only he shows some responsibility to the game and for giving the fans something to get excited about.

You think the absolute armies of fake Chelsea fans care about their lack of style on the pitch? There are so, so many of them that have come out of the woodwork recently that suggests to me that its not their main concern. I'd say in most areas they outnumber Arsenal fans - a team who in recent history have played some really good stuff. Its nothing to do with style, everything to do with success. I'm sure they want both style and wins, but if its a choice between the two they'll pick whoever gets to the Champions League final over a team who goes out in style. But don't try to suggest I have any campaign against Pearce just because it suits your jaundiced outlook and helps you have another knock at me. It is not even 1% true. We're getting Stuart Pearce in?!?! What the hell is Mandaric thinking?!?! Pearce out

martinrowland Posted 11 August 2008 Posted 11 August 2008 Where i live in West london ive never known another leicester fan (except the odd teacher). Everyone is either man.u, chelsea, arsenal, qpr and a few liverpool or brentford. i have no reason to why i support leicester i just decided they were my team when i was small and have stayed by them. Cant hack any man.u or chelsea fans but the ones who take the piss for being a leicester fan amaze me. How many United games you been to then?. Its great how quick they change the subject when you ask that question
Asha Posted 11 August 2008 Posted 11 August 2008 When we drew against Arsenal when in the Prem last with that last minute Hignett goal, when I went school the next monday to take the piss, the response was 'Oh we felt sorry for you because you're going down so we gave you a goal'. That's when I realised most glory supporters don't understand football.
Corky Posted 12 August 2008 Posted 12 August 2008 One child I know says the same thing. It also berates its classmates for being plastics, and happily tells them its Leicester City supporting Aunt has been to the football team of their choice more times than they have. It tells them they don't know how sweet the taste of victory is, because they've overused their tastebuds!!No. Nobody has to justify supporting a team like ours. We do it through love and pride, and not because we are plastics who want instant success, and prostitute their souls to whichever club happens to be top dog at the time. Your niece (I assume it's your niece) is very well-trained. Well done Lisa And you're right, no-one has to justify supporting Leicester. People always ask me, and my reply is "we don't choose, we are chosen" When we drew against Arsenal when in the Prem last with that last minute Hignett goal, when I went school the next monday to take the piss, the response was 'Oh we felt sorry for you because you're going down so we gave you a goal'.That's when I realised most glory supporters don't understand football. I had something similar after the same match. I went into school and they said "it was over the added time so it shouldn't have counted", despite the fact I was at the match and it was inside the added time. They don't understand football at all.
