Kurrif Posted 12 August 2008 Posted 12 August 2008 I was looking through the ground details for our away games yesterday and also pondering the joy of sitting in an open air stand this coming Satdeh and it struck me that this will be when the reality of this season hits home to the players. Last Saturday you could have believed that you were in the chanpionship or even the premiership ( if you ignored the name MK Dons on the scoreboard). Our set up at Walkers, the size of the crowd and the atmosphere suggested nothing had changed, Indeed you could get quite excited at the prospect of both goals and wins. This weekend they hit the first of a whole series of crappy little grounds and although I,m sure they will be well supported at the away end, at some grounds this will be no more than 500 of us with only a light scattering of their fans around the ground. That and aged dressing rooms and cranky floodlighting may be a quick sobering up about the level we are really at. Lets see if they step up to the plate when reality hits. I,m not being negative here, I hope and actually believe we will do well this season, I liked the fact that we were playing football last weekend rather than hoofball and it was good to see an animated Pearson in the technical area (a la Mon). I just thought that the contrast between home and away will be interesting. cheers Kurrif
dandannieldanok Posted 12 August 2008 Posted 12 August 2008 I laughed at the tickets when it said "open air".
Asha Posted 12 August 2008 Posted 12 August 2008 It might not hit home hard for the players though....most of them have played at this level or lower in the last few years.

If we don't have more than 500 fans, it will be our own fault - pretty much everywhere except Northampton will give us a 4-figure allocation, even Cheltenham are!
Thracian Posted 12 August 2008 Posted 12 August 2008 Our first team squad looked focused enough at Kettering. Damn good job they didn't have to buy a burger though.
Tommy G Posted 12 August 2008 Posted 12 August 2008 Will the likes of howard/oakley be able to cope with it after visiting Premiership grounds last season? Howard has played at Luton However...
