DJ Barry Hammond Posted 12 August 2008 Posted 12 August 2008 For any of you follow the 'other football' from over the pond - i've set up a FoxesTalk fantasy league via ESPN. If you fancy signing up to it PM your email address and I'll send you an invite. A minimum of 10 memebers are required - but if there's interest the league can be extended to accomidate 20 teams. Once we have enough, I can then set about organising how we want to draft the players. I've been in a league for the past two seasons, and it's another addictive on-line activity for me to waste time on!
Jordan Posted 12 August 2008 Posted 12 August 2008 Count me in Love the NY Yankee's. I do too, but they're a baseball team I'd consider joining and getting embarrassed after not making the playoffs in a league full of Brits! Has ESPN's fantasy football been reliable over the past few years? I played in a league with a bunch of friends about three years ago that was supposed to be on ESPN, but their servers crashed soon before the season and our entire draft was lost; we all went to Yahoo! after that. Something similar happened last year with their fantasy baseball (all this left ESPN red-faced because they spend a lot of money advertising this stuff). I'd guess they've learned their lessons by now.

DJ Barry Hammond Posted 13 August 2008 Author Posted 13 August 2008 Yeah i didn't reply to that one as I wasn't sure whether it was serious or not! With regards to the ESPN servers - well I've played in a few comps the past two seasons and it's all been fine - I've really enjoyed it, even if I have spent far too much time on it! (And what with Batracer and FM Live now it seems my whole life will be spent in fantasy sport on computer mode!) The draft will be the hard thing to organise - when or how to do it - but it's a good laugh. Oh and i managed to win one last year, against a load of american's - I was well pleased!

Congrats on embarassing my nation the win :: I'll play. I might not be able to be free to get to a live draft (which are fun) on time if you set that up b/c of the time difference, but I can set a preset draft order.
DJ Barry Hammond Posted 15 August 2008 Author Posted 15 August 2008 Jordon - send me your email and i'll invite you. Sadly it doesn't seem like i can just make a link for people to add themselves.
Jordan Posted 21 August 2008 Posted 21 August 2008 I haven't made any progress in getting ready for the draft or getting others to join because I haven't been able to log in to ESPN.com since this weekend. I've had an ESPN.com account for years and despite a couple of poor performances by them, this is one problem I've never had. Anyway, I reset my password and jumped through a bunch of online hoops to try to be able to log in again, but nothing worked. Fed up, I called ESPN just now and they said that because ESPN is owned by Disney, and as Disney is a family-oriented company, they felt that my username, "LTsCokeDealer," was inappropriate for their website. I guess they felt my username was appropriate for the past few years, then. And nevermind contacting me to let me know about this with a simple automated email. They changed my username, and now I can log in, but I'm pissed off. And they wouldn't let me change my username to "ihatedisney," or even "idislikedisney," either.
