Thracian Posted 26 August 2008 Posted 26 August 2008 was talking to sheehan over the summer he did not want to stay with us...had probs on facebook talking to scowcroft and slagging the club off ...a lot of city fans saw this and basically told him to stay away...his last words to me was i have to look at my options as i have had some big clubs interested in me !.............to me a statememnt that we are not a big club in his eyes.. Someone at the Quorn game who was close to the club told me he was "full of himself" but it's not at all unusual for young professional sportsmen to be like that. I heard worse about other players at times. But then the same person told me what good blokes Porter and Logan were, and one or two more. What is the criteria for playing here? Being exemplary individuals or useful footballers? For what it's worth I've spoken to Sheehan on various occasions and found him fine. Stearman and Porter the same. Others say they've had a different experience. But are they not just like other people? Some people take to them. Others don't. No-one knows what experiences colour anyone's view of a club. I know for instance that Dodds felt pretty bad about the club never giving him a first team chance while all sorts of people who never deserved one got a shot. No idea if he ever went public but would it really matter? Who says it's worse to say something on Facebook rather than think it to yourself? Perhaps silly, I'd agree. But some people are diplomatic, others are not and say it according to how they feel.

I think it's a sensible move by Pearson - he's not just offered him a contract, he's had a look and assessed his fitness before making the decision. We know Powell is a solid pro and if he's selected, I'm sure he'll be fine at this level. He started 19 games for Charlton last season in the Championship and was steady by all accounts.
