James. Posted 2 September 2008 Posted 2 September 2008 It's going to burst. Maybe not any time soon but in time, it will burst. And when it does, we'll all be better for it. The Football Bubble
davieG Posted 2 September 2008 Posted 2 September 2008 Well if it brings an end to the slave trade bring it on!
Daggers Posted 2 September 2008 Posted 2 September 2008 Clubs like Fulham are going to be dicked over the most when it does.
davieG Posted 2 September 2008 Posted 2 September 2008 For a bubble to burst it only needs a little PR1CK.........

andyh1884 Posted 2 September 2008 Posted 2 September 2008 I read this article the other day, makes the point of football clubs not being run like any other business quite well I think.
James. Posted 2 September 2008 Author Posted 2 September 2008 I read this article the other day, makes the point of football clubs not being run like any other business quite well I think. I was quite enjoying the article and then I read the criticisms of it in the comments section. Some of them are spot on. This bit from the main article however is probably the most important, and true: The hyper wage inflation that afflicts football is slowly bankrupting the game. Soon it will be impossible to sustain the level of wages without the club being the plaything of a billionaire because the income available from turnstile and media has surely peaked.

I would agree with that. Some parts of his arguement are on shaky ground, but there's still some relevant points in there re how football clubs are run like the part you pulled out.
