davieG Posted 17 November 2008 Posted 17 November 2008 Source TROUBLE flared after Swindon Town’s clash with Leicester City on Saturday. Police said they swooped to detain a number of unruly Town fans, and CCTV footage is now being studied to find out if any crimes were committed. There were no arrests but details of all the men detained by police have been taken. One witness said there were at least 50 officers involved in the operation and that County Road was closed for at least an hour. PC Jim Neighbour, the football liaison officer for Swindon police, said: “There was a disturbance after the game involving a number of fans acting in an anti-social manner. “There was an appropriate police presence and we were able to quickly quell the trouble. “Their details have been taken and we will be checking CCTV footage to see if any offence was committed. “Because of the volume of traffic County Road was closed for a short time while the incident was managed.” The cause of the flare-up is still not clear. Town had scored two late goals to salvage a point from their encounter with Leicester. Anyone who has any information about the trouble can call Swindon police on 0845 408 7000.
Guest Posted 17 November 2008 Posted 17 November 2008 From what I saw, it looked like a load of chavvy kids, trying to act tough, but being laughably pathetic in the process.

Probably the same ones that sing Harry Roberts songs after the home games as they run away from the Police down Welford Road. Words fail me.

A version of Harry Roberts was sung, but with different words. A lot of these kids were singing songs along the lines of "the Leicester have run away", and "come on Leicester, where are you" (). Bearing in mind we were supposed to still be inside the ground at that time, it was quite funny. What was also funny was seeing 2 or 3 boys (in the literal sense, not the hooligan sense) try and jump a copper, only to be swatted away with consummate ease. I really don't know why they do this. It's stupid little children like this that mean we all get treated like scum. I look forward to the day when we aren't harassed by the police, and where we can even enjoy a drink during the game. It won't happen in my lifetime though.
Ross-Kemp Posted 17 November 2008 Posted 17 November 2008 I'm 99.9% sure the left hand stand housed these idiots. Was a couple after the game waiting by our coach "the one that got escorted by 4 different constabularies <_< " Fooking morons.
