Substitutions

What is the point of having subs when Levein doesnt seem to use them i dont get it, he brings people on for 5 minutes at a time. surely today with Dion up front (who didnt win a header all night apart from the one that hit the bar) you need Gillespie in the team to supply crosses.

The team has no shape, and although Tiatto tries hard he just wonders around the field going anywhere he likes and when we need an outlet on the left he's never there, it takes the full back to get there which then leaves us open to the counter attack.

I feel we need to play a rigid 4-4-2 where people stick to their positions and if that means dropping so called bigger players, to bring in youngsters so be it.

And as for our strikers, I know people moan about Connelly but he works so hard by himself its often the case that he's about 3 seconds infront of the rest of the team. If he had a good striker next to him he would score so many more goals.

Back to the main subject, What is Leveins problem with making a substitution? Theres been times when the team has needed a change and he just leaves it. for example against Wigan we go 2-0 down and he brings a defender on. Why didnt he put Moore straight on, threw Dion straight upfront and just played direct to Dublin with Moore and Connelly getting the bits?

I think his tatical decisions really need to be looked at if he is going to be a success here. I dont want to slag him off yet, lets give him a pre-season with the team and let him bring his players in and see how we do next season.

I do honestly feel he the right man to do it. Although we have done absolute crap since he has been here im happy in what he has done to the age of the squad and im quite happy in who he has brought in. Maybury and Hughes are going to be Leicester Heros. Mark my words.

erm? no he didn't, and when he did they went to no-one in particular.

last night just after their left back was booked was the perfect time to introduce gillespie. a fresh (somewhat) tricky winger attacking a tireing full back already on a booking.

but no levine leaves it until the 80th minute.

do you think he forgets about the substitutes

I agree with most of what you are saying but Dion DID win nearly everything

Oh NO he didn't ;)

dion won the majority of his headers last night , collins and gabbidon were swopping with each other to challenge dublin as he was winning far too many headers for cardiffs liking

He was during the first 60mins or so then he kind of faded out a little, not suprising as for large parts of the latter stages of the match he had two defenders on him. Also the fact no-one was there to receive his headers is only partly his fault.

All in all, Dion and Connolly are our best combination up front.

Well we all see things differently, but me and my lad still stick with our view

Yup.

But it suits the De Vries is pants crew so see Dublin's up front heading performance as wonderful. They will be the same people who were shouting to get Dublin off when he was playing as striker earlier in the season.

right 1 , i am not part of the de vries pants crew , he hasnt looked good so far but i am willing to give him time .

your right davie people see things differently as this thread shows , i personally thought dublin proved a handful for the cardiff back 4 for the majority of the game and i do agree to a point that not all his headers went to anybody in particular but a job of a target man is to win flick ons and hope that either your strike partner or on coming midfielders can read them

And that comes with playing with them regularly, we haven't had that luxury. If you look at Dublin he only heads as a last resort, I don't blame him if Id've been through what he has I'd be the same. But that just means a career in a position that requires heading should no longer be in the offing for him. I'll give you he talks the talk, but I'm not sure how effective that is - the defence seemed to be so focused on listening to him that they forgot to defend.

I've felt that although Devries's heading has been poor, when he has held the ball the midfield have not been around to receive it, so same problem really.
