dandannieldanok Posted 7 January 2009 Posted 7 January 2009 Hope he goes out he is such a dick. Should of made the step up to PDC a while ago but now he would get dicked on by the likes of Terry Jenkins let alone Taylor, Barney and Wade. May I ask why?
Uncle Albert Posted 7 January 2009 Author Posted 7 January 2009 May I ask why? Did you not read after? Thats only half off it he's abit like James Wade just a born dickhead really and isn't really that good.
dandannieldanok Posted 7 January 2009 Posted 7 January 2009 Did you not read after?Thats only half off it he's abit like James Wade just a born dickhead really and isn't really that good. So he's a dick because he didn't go to the PDC?
Uncle Albert Posted 7 January 2009 Author Posted 7 January 2009 So he's a dick because he didn't go to the PDC? Correct. Anyone who spends that amount of time in the shitty BDO when they could be in the PDC competing with bigboys is a dick.
dandannieldanok Posted 7 January 2009 Posted 7 January 2009 Correct.Anyone who spends that amount of time in the shitty BDO when they could be in the PDC competing with bigboys is a dick. How very narrow-minded.
Uncle Albert Posted 7 January 2009 Author Posted 7 January 2009 How very narrow-minded. How is it narrow-minded? An aim for a competitive sportsman/woman is to compete at the highest level possible. Correct? And this is something that Martin Adams and alot of others in the BDO aren't doing they are competiting in bobbit competitions and trying to hammer people on the County circuit, I could play for my pubteam and Martin Adams would probably want a leg just to say he has beat another player. BDO is such a poor standard of Darts it's unreal. Notice how many leave the BDO after one tournament at the Lakeside? Klassen and Van Gerwen both did it and look where they are now competing at the PDC World Championships and both lost to the finalists there. If you were able to watch the PDC Darts on a regular basis then I think you would have the same views as me.

I think it could be down to the coverage, and the atmosphere created. The darts is excellent but the noise is something else. I think that's what grips you.

If you watched BDO on a regular basis then you would realise that the standard is not as poor as you think. It's a known fact that the PDC has more higher quality players than the BDO, I can't and won't try to deny that, but without Phil Taylor the gap in standard would close dramatically. As for Adams, why on earth should the bloke be branded a dick for not moving to a greed driven organisation that is sucking the life out of the game. The BDO do much more than the PDC to help develop talent and Adams owes a lot to the BDO which is why he has stayed loyal. If you'd watched Adams throughout his career then the BDO has thrown up plenty of competition for him and he's being tested at a high level. What's the point in moving to the PDC just to be whipped by Phil Taylor when he can compete for the BDO world championship which for a lot of people is more prestigious.

The best way to see how close they are is to have an annual tournament with both groups in, then we'll have a better idea as to how close/far apart they are.
maddog Posted 7 January 2009 Posted 7 January 2009 The BDO has a lot more 'soul' than the PDC and the lakeside tourney is always great. Everyone starts in the BDO, the PDC is the more commercial, higher prize money one, its entertaining but no soul. A bit like the Walkers Stadium except that has no soul or entertainment.

Yea I do watch the BDO and so I can comment and say it is pretty average. Without Taylor it would still be entertaining with the majority of the players averaging way over 100. Watching the BDO just isn't watching the Lakeside once a year. The PDC is shown alot on Sky with a variety of tournaments and the Premier League Darts. You cant say that the PDC doesnt give people oppourtunites to people when the PDC has let a woman enter it's main competition while the BDO won't let that thing Trina Gulliver in the Men's championship. The PDC does more than you think pal. The BDO is nothing more than a glamorous Pub competition. The best way to see how close they are is to have an annual tournament with both groups in, then we'll have a better idea as to how close/far apart they are. They do the Grand Slam of Darts. And guess what player wins that? A PDC player.

Nobody, even the most fervent BDO fans can deny that the PDC has more strength in depth as far as quality players than the BDO but this tournament and organisation is where darts was born and bred and definitely has more essence.

I think darts would be a lot more entertaining without Taylor (because he's too good) so I'll agree with that but you can't tell me that PDC players average way over 100. Last year's final had John Part averaging about 92/93 with Kirk Shepherd just 85. And yes I do realise the BDO is a lot more than lakeside. The reason why Trina Gulliver doesn't compete in the men's competition is because she competes in the women's competition. I don't see why anyone should have any gripes with that and not once have I heard Gulliver express and desire to enter the men's competition. Very few sports if any combine male and female so why should darts be different. You can't tell me the PDC is doing a lot for the sport by letting a female enter the men's competition, it's completely meaningless in the large scheme of things. As for glamorous pub competition, you've got your wires crossed. I think you'll find the PDC worlds are staged at a glorified pub where beer is thrown into the crowd and scantily clad women walk out with the players. It's crass and almost cringeworthy at times.
maddog Posted 7 January 2009 Posted 7 January 2009 Hes done it, Webster is gone, super play. John Walton normally has no flair at all, but he showed the flair of Cristiano Ronaldo there with an end product. Mark Webster He will probably in the PDC next year

Walton was class tonight, on that form he should get past Adams in the next round who hasn't played well.

Equal oppourtunites and all that. How is it a pub competition you fooking moron. Where is beer thrown into the crowds? The fans are alot more vocal and have alot more of a laugh at the PDC than all the boring bastards in the Lakeside the only time they cheer is when someone finally hit's a 180. How is women walking men onto the stage cringeworthy? Especially if they are super fit like they are. If you are gay then I could understand. PDC dicks all over the BDO. End of.

It's all about opinions, you brought up the notion of a pub competition and in my opinion the PDC is like it and in your opinion the BDO is. It's just a shame you have to express an opinion like you have done, shows as much class as the PDC I suppose.

Exactly, how I have expressed my opinion has made me win this debate as you know i'm right. So yea it is abit like the PDC - win all the time.

They all come through the BDO. PDC just nicks em by waving big cheques. I give Martin Adams big respect for saying no. He sticking to his roots in working mans darts. The good old British Darts Organization. Adams, Fitton and co are quality players. Plus, the BDO use the best boards, the good old 'Winmau Blade III'. Available from argos. I have one and I've had 2 bounce outs in a year, no shit. PDC does have a few more highest level players but thats just a money thing
