Guest Posted 13 January 2009 Posted 13 January 2009 I'm interested in tracing my family tree, and have started some work on it. I know where my great-granddad was born. I know where. I also know where and when he married my great-grandmother. But the only man the same age and name was registered to an address in West Ham. This is not right.

From what I am led to believe, Irish records pre 1900 were destroyed.
Thracian Posted 14 January 2009 Posted 14 January 2009 Thracian is MY ancestor. I get the picture. It's been that sort of week.
Guest Posted 14 January 2009 Posted 14 January 2009 Wasn't Irish by any chance was he? From what I am led to believe, Irish records pre 1900 were destroyed. Nope. From Leicester. I have looked at the 1901 census, and not only did I find great-granddad, but I found great-great-granddad!
