Oxford United Posted 5 February 2009 Posted 5 February 2009 Anyone who follows non league football may have heard about recent points deductions given to 4 clubs in the Blue Square Premier and Blue Square South (Oxford United, Mansfield Town, Crawley Town and Bognor Regis Town) because of failings in the Conference's own registration procedures. It would be a great help to us all if you could take just a couple of minutes to sign a petition to be presented to the Conference board against these injustices. Thanks! http://www.petitiononline.com/confpts/petition.html
Ultra Posted 5 February 2009 Posted 5 February 2009 The petition is not well worded. It specifically states it's for fans of Conference clubs only.
Tevez Posted 5 February 2009 Posted 5 February 2009 Right that's it, time to get the boys round if them Tits are messing with Bognor Regis Town.

DB11 Posted 5 February 2009 Posted 5 February 2009 Surely if you broke the rules and this is the punishment it's what you've gotta deal with?
Corky Posted 5 February 2009 Posted 5 February 2009 Surely if you broke the rules and this is the punishment it's what you've gotta deal with? Spoken like a true referee.
Oxford United Posted 6 February 2009 Author Posted 6 February 2009 Surely if you broke the rules and this is the punishment it's what you've gotta deal with? Well it was the Conference's cock-up that caused all this. Registration forms were sent off (they had to be faxed, the Conference is probably the only league in the country that doesn't have online registration) and they failed to check properly whether players were properly registered, meaning that the problem went unnoticed for as long as 3 months. How can we be punished for their failings?

Perhaps those teams deducted points just hoped the Conference wouldn't notice.
Oxford United Posted 8 February 2009 Author Posted 8 February 2009 How come all of the other Conference teams managed to properly register their players then? Perhaps those teams deducted points just hoped the Conference wouldn't notice. But they didn't. When was the last time you heard of this happening to 4 teams in one season? And these are just the ones we know about, the Conference are too inept to check all players' registrations every week. If a full audit were to take place, there would be plenty more clubs affected?

I don't know I've not read up on the topic or anything. Didn't even know it had happened; all I know is what I've read in this thread from you, a biased Oxford United fan. I don't really have any real interest in the subject but rules are rules, and punishments are what follows broken rules.
