Pearson pins hopes on Hobbs boost

Leicester City boss Nigel Pearson is hopeful that Jacks Hobbs' red card in the 1-0 win over Bristol Rovers will be rescinded by referee Graham Horwood.

Hobbs saw red for a foul on Darryl Duffy in the box after 56 minutes.

Pearson told BBC Radio Leicester: "The sending-off was unfortunate. I don't think it was intentional and I hope the ref looks at it again."

On-loan keeper Mark Bunn saved the resulting penalty and the Foxes held on to the lead given them by Matt Fryatt.

"Jack tried to clear the ball, it bobbled, Kerrea Gilbert was round to cover and so it was debatable if he was the last man," Pearson added.

"Jack didn't know how he missed the ball but I was in line with it and the ball took a nasty bobble."

Bunn, playing only his second game for the club after joining on a month-long loan deal from Blackburn, said his spot-kick heroics from were down to doing pre-match research.

"Me and the goalkeeper coach (Mike Stowell) looked at some penalties before and he (Ricky Lambert) went to the right so I went to the right and I saved it.

"It's about time I saved one because that's the first penalty I've saved in about 10 I think."

It was harsh. Harsh I say. And having watched the video time and again I still think it was harsh. Very harsh. In fact exceedingly harsh. :D

Harsh decision by the ref.

Hope he looks at it and decides how harsh he was.

In fact the ref could maybe give himself a kick up the harsh, for being so harsh.

If he deemed it still worthy of a yellow card he won't rescind it. According to the rules, a red card will only be rescinded if it is proven that no action should have been taken. (Like I say, according to the rules because that doesn't happen to the big four )

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I could have sworn that there are numerous cases whereby players have had red cards downgraded to yellows!?!......or maybe I'm imagining things. :dunno:

I thought the referee could downgrade a card to yellow when he gives his report or whatever he does but with an appeal you can't, probably wrong though :dunno:

If its a 3 game ban then thats ridiculous, especially when you consider that Nolan will get the same suspension for his 'tackle'. The last-man red cards should be 1 game bans at most, I don't even think it should be an immediate red card unless it was obviously intentional.
