Have a read at http://www.soarmagazine.co.uk/ Good luck to your pal. I read the article about squash with interest and still fail to see how it could possibly fail to be an Olympic sport. If ever a sport demanded the athleticism of an Olympian it is squash. I'm quite sure its problems relate, not to its merit as a sport, but to its limited appeal to the televisors. But that really is no excuse. Footballers play for 90 minutes with a 15-minute break and all sorts of stoppages for injuries, substitutions etc. But squash can be relentless. Even tennis players get to change ends every couple of games and to sit down between games, squash can be up to three hours of effort with precious little relief at any time apart from the short break between sets.

Good point. If tennis and badminton are classified as Olympic sports, it seems illogical to exclude squash. Also note the plug for the market, featuring some local celebs..
Lillehamring Posted 6 March 2009 Posted 6 March 2009 good idea, terrible name - especially for something online, no-one outside of the county will realise the 'soar' reference..
Poakey Posted 6 March 2009 Posted 6 March 2009 good idea, terrible name - especially for something online, no-one outside of the county will realise the 'soar' reference.. So?Its for Leicestershire ist it?
Sir Fynwy Posted 6 March 2009 Posted 6 March 2009 good idea, terrible name - especially for something online, no-one outside of the county will realise the 'soar' reference.. It's a local mag for local people, we don't want any of your sort in here
The People's Hero Posted 6 March 2009 Posted 6 March 2009 good idea, terrible name - especially for something online, no-one outside of the county will realise the 'soar' reference.. Who cares? It's aimed at those with an interest in Leics... isn't it?
Lillehamring Posted 6 March 2009 Posted 6 March 2009 So?Its for Leicestershire ist it? Who cares? It's aimed at those with an interest in Leics... isn't it? absolutely - but it also happens to be on the internet, and thus may be of interest to anybody in the english speaking world. or do you only look at stuff on the internet that relates to leicester? and i fail to see what connection, apart from some boating and fishing, the soar has to do with sport and health. i just don't think it's a very dynamic or catchy name for what appears to be a sharp and upbeat journal....

Ok, what should they call it to attract people? People who will then go on it, realise it's all about Leicester and then leave it! Don't be a pedant when there is nothing to be pedantic about. If you're from Leicester and do happen to live outside of the county in, lets say, Norway, you will know the name and be interested in the contents. Job done.
