Craig Posted 19 March 2009 Author Posted 19 March 2009 Had my meeting, i'm 8th on the list. So provisionally redundant. 2 absences last year. What pisses me off though is that one woman is staying and she only did 4 months in 2008, scoring 0 points. In those 4 months, i also scored 0 points. But i'm assessed over the year. Pathetic.
Leicfox Posted 22 October 2009 Posted 22 October 2009 Redundancies are imminent at my place of work. 20% of the work force (80 jobs) are to be thrown to the curb. The problem stems from the fact Lancashire County Council, which negotiates with the operators on behalf of all the district councils, has slashed the amount it will give by 20 per cent next year on free journeys for over-60s, leaving us with a £1.3m budget black hole to fill from previous years. I recieved a letter yestarday as every one did saying they are taking voluntary first then working it on a last in, first out percentage and a points pyramid system percentage. I think im safe (fingers crossed) but it's another govenment fook up, where they bring in an idea and don't fund it properly. It's a case of free travel or people's jobs?
hairy Posted 22 October 2009 Posted 22 October 2009 last in, first out percentage I didn't think you could use that anymore as its seen as age discrimination against the young as they have not had the opportunity to work as long there as someone who is 60

I think thats the way they get round it.
lou Posted 22 October 2009 Posted 22 October 2009 Our whole dept looks to be under threat.... I reckon weve got 12 months but nothings been announced. Ive been there 8 years so wont get much in the way of payment (think its usually a week for every year youve done) My Sons place has put people on reduced hours and have very little work booked in for the next 12 months. Its not looking good as hes one of the last ones in but were hoping, as an apprentice, some of his wage is being paid by the government and they will keep him on as he doesnt cost them very much. Id like to pass on my sympathy to anyone whos been/being made redundant.

For example the costs of making someone redundant. So the less time worked the cheaper i.e. last in / first out. Good luck Leicfox. If you get selected make sure you put in a good appeal against your scoring and set out all your skills and training.
Leicfox Posted 22 October 2009 Posted 22 October 2009 Ive been there 8 years so wont get much in the way of payment (think its usually a week for every year youve done) Yeah that's how our company works 1 week for every year upto the age of 40 (time depending) then a week and a half for every year after.

Depending on your age it could be £380 x 4.5 to 12 this is a good site to use to work it out Never under any circumstance write to your firm telling them you want to made redundant. If you do then you may not get notice pay, only redundancy pay.
