SilverFox Posted 3 May 2005 Posted 3 May 2005 I think he will turn out to be a good buy. He struggled early on, but his strike partners did not set the heather alight either (Dublin, Scowcroft and de Vries).He has scored 7 in the last 10 games and if he keeps that up next season we will do ok if he gets a decent strike partner. He also puts in a lot of effort. 102448[/snapback] Fully agree with what you are saying, but get a name that isn't already in use!
Frenzied Posted 3 May 2005 Posted 3 May 2005 I rate Connolly. He's not an orthodox striker, more a Beardsley type player than a Lineker. This means he's unlikely to be higly prolific throughout a season. However, his energy and link-up play with Hughes and Williams can be superb and means we are likely to score more goals from midfield. There were several occassions when Hughes or Williams pushed forward and got into great positions as a result of passing and movement with Connolly.

ivarti Posted 3 May 2005 Posted 3 May 2005 David Connolly is a briliant player and you could ask Mick McCarthy at Sunderland. Mick took Sunderland up this season and wanted to sign Connolly, but David chose City instead. He's a good passer, he works well and he has scored 13 goals so far. i don't think those who picked him 40 times for Eire are fools. Please give David all the support he can get, then we will get 20 a season from him. This season he's been working ever so hard, but the support he's got from midfield has been bad. Danny Tiatto cannot pass a ball and misses 10 out of 11 passes (almost), why he play is for me a riddle. He works hard but you can never build a good football team when you have players that cannot play the ball. Great to discuss topics. I can see Tiatto playing at left back but in midfield he's loosing the ball to often.
