Great stage, the Ventoux is an amazing sporting arena, around 700,000 fans on the slopes, fantastic stuff! Pisses all over anybody's theories that cycling is not a popular sport.

Some very impressive rides there. Obviously Garate and Martin who took 1 and 2 in the stage rode excellently. Andy Schleck must have attacked about 10 times, that boy has some ridiculous endurance, a future champion for sure. Did all he could for Frank but older brother had absolutely nothing to give. Armstrong was also mightily impressive, looked comfortable for the majority of the climb and covered the important attacks, great 3rd place overall.

And onto Brad, what a gritty ride that was. Clung to the leaders for as long as possible and proved difficult to shrug off. Superb determination to keep pedalling on in those last kilometres to defend his 4th place overall. Stunning tour for Brad, did Britain very proud.

Great win for Garate, but one feels he would not have gotten that stage had Andy not sacrificed a possible maiden win and let himself fall back in an attempt to get Fränk on the podium. Incredibly tight at the top. Had Fränk held on to the podium three the last few metres, he would've gotten those vital seconds over Wiggins as well. But all five of them rode brilliantly today. Hopefully next year's edition will offer the same amount of entertainment.

You're right, Andy definitely had it in his legs to win today, but he wasn't going to give up on his brother after Frank's hard work in the 17th stage. This year's tour has been great, as you say a repeat of the entertainment next year will more than suffice. Plus next year we'll be able to see Lance have a proper crack at the GC in his own team.

Brilliant win for Columbia, they didn't panic when Garmin tried to take control. Hincapie, Renshaw and Cav blew them all away. 6 stage wins for Cav, 4th overall for Brad = great tour for Great Britain! :scarf:

Wouter Weylandt dies on stage of Giro de Italia

Never heard of this cyclist before, but i was listening to the radio this morning when one of my favourite cycling journalist was on and he was very emotional in recounting his stories of Wouter, who by all reports was one of the genuien nice guys. He also helped said Journalist with many incitful interviews.

The tour will go ahead but will imagine tonites stage will be a subduded group ride with no break aways and they will allow Wouters team to all cross the line first.
