Cavendish is class and with Boonen out of the way and some of the other sprinters not at their best/getting on he is always likely to pop up with a win in a mass sprint. That said one of his sprint rivals beat him today. From the BBC. dandannieldanok Posted 11 May 2009 Author Posted 11 May 2009 Petacchi won his second stage on the trot today. Cav got caught up in a crash that divided the peloton around 10km from the finish, effectively ending his chances of winning the stage and keeping the leader's jersey.

Jens Voigt is a true legend, he may not be a champion but the way he continually attacks and keeps grinding away is brilliant, they only caught him with less than 3km to go. The last 2kms were pretty exciting, Juan Soler broke and held onto the lead until the last 200m where Danilo Di Luca took the win. Armstrong fell away from the leaders group in the last km, just couldn't handle the pace.

dandannieldanok Posted 13 May 2009 Author Posted 13 May 2009 Another decent uphill finish today, surprisingly Menchov outsprinted Di Luca who did enough to pinch the pink jersey from Lokvist, who put in a monumental effort to take 3rd in the stage. Basso, Leipheimer and Sastre were all up there so a high quality lead group. Armstrong finished nearly 3 minutes off the lead which is obviously disappointing, but he's not 100% fit and of course has been out of competitive competition for a few years now. I don't think he'll be too surprised that he's not near the top.

There is a 1:10 round the corner from us, and it takes all my effort to keep stationary, and not roll back down!!

There is a 1:10 round the corner from us, and it takes all my effort to keep stationary, and not roll back down!! Everyone hates hills, especially when your peddling like a duracel bunny in 1st gear and seem to be getting nowhere.

Ive got a racer too. If you live in the Evington Area or nearby PM and you can have a butchers. Asking price is about 500 pounds each. Give or take a 0!!!!

Not quite sure about £500 but yeah £50 and below has a nicer ring to it. Basically I was given an old bike but it needs a lot of work to get it roadworthy and im not sure if it is worth the time and effort and with the money to repair I could probably just get a second hand one. I will PM you if I take you up on the offer. Nice one

dandannieldanok Posted 19 May 2009 Author Posted 19 May 2009 Just managed to catch the end of today's stage, leader Danilo Di Luca won a mammoth 6 and half hour stage with all of the main contenders stalking him from 30 seconds down the road including an improving Armstrong who could ominously be growing into some form ahead of Le Tour. The forthcoming time trial will be the main obstacle that could prevent the Italian's continued love-affair with the Giro and Di Luca winning.

SOCCERROO FOX Posted 21 May 2009 Posted 21 May 2009 Glad to see Micky Rogers up there doing well. hasn't had a great run with injury of the past couple of years. But could be a dark horse to finish in the top 5 in the Tour de France if he doesn't lose too much time in the big alps. His strength is the time trials.

Rogers should do well today in the time trial, could even take the pink jersey if he rides out of his skin.
