I love cycling now........ didnt start til last year (42 years old!) due to not being able to drive for 12 months coz of a medical condition, got totally sick of 4 buses and day and bought a bike for the 1st time since I was about 13!

Started cycling to work on it roughly from the Pork pie island on Saffron Lane to the top of Anstey Lane near the Gilroes crematorium. When I 1st started it took me an hour to get to work... its mostly uphill and Anstey Lane is a bloody killer!

Now I do it in 35 mins and can get all the way up Anstey Lane without having to stop. Im practically dead by the time I get there but Im dead proud of myself lol

Well Done Lou!!!

Sure Dan will tell us later but Mark Cavendish won some sprint or other in Italy today!

Menchov won today's time trial and takes the leader's jersey from Di Luca who sustained the damage well with a courageous ride, he's definitely still in the race. Bradley Wiggins rode superbly to finish in the top 10 ahead of Armstrong. Oh and Micheal Rogers was pretty useless Soccerroo I'm afraid to say, didn't ride anywhere near his potential.

Is Armstrong going for,or allowed to go in The Tour De France?

Yeah i know that is what he does shows plenty then will do not much. I'm still hopeful that he will put it all together in the tdf and he comes top 5 and the might Cadel can win it (but still not in a strong enough team)

Who's do you think will the TDF Dan it's getting closer you know.

Cav wins again today!! - http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/other_spor...ing/8064222.stm

I can't look past Contador for the tour, especially if he gets full support from his team (Astana do look strong). I'm hoping one of the Schlecks can do something and maybe without Sastre in the CSC team anymore one of them (probably Frank) should come good. I agree about Cadel not having a good team, he'll probably get hung out to dry on the big summits through lack of support. I think if anyone is going to challenge Contador it'll be Menchov who is in stunning form atm. Contador for me though. Sorry to say I can't see Rogers getting near the top 5 myself.

How about you?

Simon Gerrans wins today, breaking out from the elite group and the peloton on the final ascent, didn't get to see it personally but it sounded impressive.

Meanwhile Cavendish has unsurprisingly been pulled from the Giro to rest ahead of the Tour de France, no more opportunities to win stages.

Cavendish will struggle to finish the TDF as he will struggle over the alps.

Was very pleased with Gerran's win was quite similar to his win in the TDF last year did as little as work as possible then broke away up the final hill.

Carlos Sastre won today in over 7 hours :o, a ridiculously taxing stage. He's up to third but this is definitely a two horse race between Menchov and Di Luca.

Menchov pulled some vital seconds back on sastre at the end there.

Really hope he can manage it, if he can then I can't see anyone beating him to the green jersey.

Mcewen

I tell you what Renshaw seems to have been good for Cavendish giving him a good lead out man.

Sorry roo but I think McEwen way past it now, I don't doubt his ability to finish the race but I'd be surprised if he won a stage never mind amassed enough points.

Renshaw has been very good for Cav and he keeps recognising that in post-race interviews, every sprinter needs a good lead-out man.

Denis Menchov has won the Giro after today's timetrial, although he fell off near the end which would have gave him a fright. Another impressive ride from Bradley Wiggins, came 2nd just one second behind the winner.

Armstrong confident ahead of Le Tour

He definitely improved over the second half of the Giro as he says himself, and his team Astana will be one of the strongest to line up, but in my opinion Armstrong will only play a bit-part role in the Tour. He's realistically only the fourth-best rider in the Astana team behind Contador, Leipheimer and Kloden. I personally can't believe he's second favourite with most bookies, although a bet on anyone else other than Contador would be a wasted bet in my personal opinion.

How many Brits will be in it this year?

Will Cavendish make it to the end this time?

Bradley Wiggins a very impressive 3rd in the prologue time trial. :scarf:

4 Brits: Cavendish, Wegelius, Millar, Wiggins

Cav should make it to the end this time, he'll certainly try and obviously doesn't have the Olympics to bother about.

Cavendish 177th (fourth last).

WTF happened there? :o

Didn't exert himself, no need to bust a gut when he has no chance of winning. All Cav is bothered about are the sprints and the green jersey. Trust me don't look anything into this. ;)
