Does anybody know why the FAW are involved in disciplinary actions when it comes to Swansea and Cardiff players? Maybe this has been covered elsewhere, but how can the FAW rescind red cards for Welsh teams playing in England? Surely they should be dealt with by the English FA.

I'm sure there are many examples if I look for them, but on top of my head Ross McCormack got sent off against Sheffield United but his red card was rescinded by the FAW.

They're technically still governed by the FAW - hence entry to the Welsh Cup.

They play in the Football League, League Cup and FA Cup as guests.

I personally think the league that governs the game they were sent off in should really be the only authority capable of rescinding a card but I'm not sure. You would imagine that the FAW do so on behalf of the FA and not as some sort of rogue faction trying to cause problems. The FAW is weak enough as it is, I doubt we're intentionally going around withdrawing deserved red cards just to wind the English up.

Can't both Swansea and Cardiff [and even Wrexham] opt out from the FAW? I don't think they on a wind up and I'm not sure if there is any truth in it, but I've heard that there are some Cardiff City season ticket holders in the FAW.

I'm not sure they'd be able to.

The FAW would cause a massive uproar. They're constantly paranoid that FIFA will further diminish their power - hence why we refuse to join the Olympic all-UK team. If they lost governance of Swansea and Cardiff it would be seen as their influence being hugely weakened.

They were in talks a few weeks back to dissafilliate from from the FAW and join the FA, but as mentioned above, this would cause a massive uproar to the FAW because they would lose out big time on co-efficient points. A similar debate happened last season with Cardiff and if they had won the FA Cup and played in Europe the FA here would have lost co-efficient points!

Still a big topic involved with the clubs and FAW and don't see it being resolved soon to be honest.
