Louise Posted 3 May 2005 Posted 3 May 2005 http://www.lcfc.premiumtv.co.uk/page/News/...~660714,00.htmlDanny Tiatto was named Player of the Season at an official gala dinner held at the Walkers Stadium this evening (Tuesday). City fans were asked to vote via text and email in April, and club captain Tiatto pipped Keith Gillespie and Dion Dublin to the award. Elsewhere, Dublin was named Players' Player of the Season by his team-mates, and Keith Gillespie's wonder-volley against West Ham United was voted as the best goal of the campaign. Team Performance of the Season was given to the fifth round FA Cup victory over Charlton Athletic, and Alan Sheehan was named Academy Player of the Year. David Connolly picked up the Top Goalscorer award on the night for his 13 goals.
jase67 Posted 3 May 2005 Posted 3 May 2005 I think the clue may be in the title player of the SEASON. You can pick fault with all of them who started the season. Tiatto stood out at the start and Maybury and Hughes at the end. Can you think of anyone over the course of the season that deserved it more?
Knighton Matt Posted 3 May 2005 Posted 3 May 2005 to be fair there's not many strong contenders and with tiatto you've got to say he put the effort in more often than not which can't be said of too many of the squad...

Stuliasz Posted 4 May 2005 Posted 4 May 2005 I think Tiatto's award is just. He was tremendous in a very poor looking team for most of the season, and it was just since his injuries that he's started to put in a few more average performances. The problem is with these awards that fans only tend to remember this half of the season, where Dublin, Gillespie and possibly Connolly have been our best players, but as said before it's player of the season, not player of the 2nd half of the season.
TrickyTrev Posted 4 May 2005 Posted 4 May 2005 I think Dublin should have won but Tiatto had a very good start to the season and if the votes were collected in a month or so a go I can see why he would have won it.
