Jon the Hat Posted 16 July 2010 Posted 16 July 2010 My heart bleeds for him, it really does. Poor bloke. The irony of it all is that his house is in Melton, not Harborough. Evidently there's nowhere within his own constituency that could satisfy his housing needs. What an idiot! What with those young kids it must be terrible to have to move to a poxy 4 bedroom house for him and the wife at the weekends! Fool.

Jon the Hat Posted 7 January 2011 Posted 7 January 2011 David Chaytor jailed for 18 months for false expenses. About bloody time.
Head Honcho Posted 7 January 2011 Posted 7 January 2011 David Chaytor jailed for 18 months for false expenses. About bloody time. I have no qualms about this but he and the others who are being prosecuted do seem to have been targeted for some reason or another...............or are there levels of dishonesty when fiddling your expenses?

Well there is claiming for stuff which you think you incurred in doing you job but the general public find ridiculous - which all of them did. Then there is renting two flats from yourself and your mum, plus falsifying invoices from an IS consultant for work which never happened becuase you had not spent the maximum amount possible - which is what Chaytor did. Hence he goes to jail. Hopefully he will be joined by the other chap who claimed for a mortgage for 2 years after it was paid off. I would say it is the difference between claiming real expenditure - whether valid or not - and falsifying documents to steal money which you keep yourself.

Jon the Hat Posted 7 January 2011 Posted 7 January 2011 What about Lords Taylor and Henningfield? Taylor looks to be fraud I would guess as he has clearly lied about his main home. Nt alone in that, but be didn't even have access to his main home by the sounds of it. Hanningfield looks fooked unless he can prove he incurred overnight expenses in London even though his Chauffer has records saying he went home. Even if he can that is criminally wasteful of taxpayers money.
