In today's society there will always be people to make excuses for him. And with the likes of Hughes and Barton still playing football what's it really matter anymore?

Bednar's big mistake was getting caught which means that someone will doubtless be obliged to rap his knuckles. But who?

With a big percentage of our politicians setting their own example of disreputable behaviour, why should anyone expect something special of footballers?

After all, our ruling politicians now even soft-soap burglars so long as the offence is carried out under the influence of drink or drugs.

One question though. Assuming the evidence stands up, you have to ask if the substances were for someone else rather than himself, would that make him a supplier?

Set up or not, I doubt he's blameless.

Easy to judge people. Massive mistake, but a bit harsh some comments on here. Hard to say what it's like in that world. Money, women and peer pressure. Could well have been getting it for someone else.

It doesn't matter whether he was buying it for himself or for a mate, it's illegal and it doesn't set the kind of example football clubs expect from their players. If he hasn't got the balls to tell "someone else" to buy it themselves, then he deserves everything he gets.

If you want to twist my words and neglect the second part of my original statement, there are better ways to do so.

All I wanted to point out is that the Bednar story sounds a bit fishy to me.
