fiery fox Posted 6 May 2005 Posted 6 May 2005 Just got to say Levein is getting us up next year. Might sound a bit wild but he is doing everything right and i just reckon he will find some gems for next year and get us up as champions. I think everyone needs to be positive and get behind the boys. we are gonna have a new team next year and they're gonna get us up!!!!!!! Go on the Foxes!!!!!!!!1
Chimp Posted 7 May 2005 Posted 7 May 2005 Some optimism wont hurt ,Louise! 104307[/snapback] There's a difference between being optomistic and being unrealistic. One of the biggest mistakes that MA made last year was to state that he was aiming for one of the automatic promotion places, hence expectations became too high. Don't forget that we're loosing a lot of first team players, just as we did last season. The new players will need time before they are playing as a team. The most we should hope for is a play-off place, but more realistically to finish in the top 10.
Anish Posted 7 May 2005 Posted 7 May 2005 Well said Chimp. If people really think that we can walk this league next season they are in for a nasty shock. We need to see an improvement on this season and if we're pushing for the playoffs I'd be happy.
FoxInTheSnow Posted 7 May 2005 Posted 7 May 2005 two wins on the bounce and we are suddenly world beaters...playoffs is what we should hope for..
Little Nicky Posted 7 May 2005 Posted 7 May 2005 A lot of these newbies to the forum, haven't got a clue! Chill out guys, cast your mind back a year, great things were said about an instant return after our good last few games of the season (but there was no pressure, we'd already cocked it up!), then over the summer, some of the old heads left, leaving us with few regulars remaining, this looks to have happened again, the ship needs steadying before we look to promotion, there will be some big teams floating about the division next season, don't kid yourselves it's not going to be easy, but if CL gets it right then why shouldn't we be able to mount a push for the playoffs!

However we ain't gonna get promoted next season i'm sad to say I believe we'll be challenging for play-offs and maybe just lose out on playoffs but to be honest i'll be happy if that happened, who'd have though i'd be saying i'd be happy just to miss out on the playoffs years ago?! Anyway for people to say we'll be champions or get automaticlly promoted FFS! Is a mircle gonna happen! Hopefully I will be very wrong and we will be champions next year but as i've said for about 3/4 years "Prove me wrong City" - I've not be proved wrong yet... That is whats wrong with ALOT of LCFC fans theres nothing wrong with being optomistic BUT some LCFC fans are prehaps too optomistic or even expect things! One of the things i've learnt since the MON days - Don't expect anything!
Guest gam14 Posted 8 May 2005 Posted 8 May 2005 i fink that finishing top may be a bit too optimistic, however if we play the kind of fooball we have the last cuple of games i dont fink we should count the play offs out

Besides we will have a completely different side than who played against Derby. I HOPE we do well next year, but lets not get ahead of ourselves. We still have 108 days () before the new season, a lot can happen in that time!
Leicesterboi Posted 9 May 2005 Posted 9 May 2005 Well its just a different view that these "newcomers" are showing. all your pesemistic comments could be to blame for the boo boys and the dull atmosphere at home matches.! You should encourage newcomers and optomism- not mock them!!
The Man With The Golden Grahams Posted 9 May 2005 Posted 9 May 2005 Whether people are new or not has nothing to do with it - this is about realism. It's not being pessimistic to say that we will not be challenging for automatic promotion next season. In my opinion, the three relegated teams (whichever three it will eventually be) will be favourites. They don't have the financial concerns that ourselves and Leeds were crippled by. As I said in another thread earlier, this season was all about steadying the ship and a top-half finish next season would be a step in the right direction. It will take time to get up there but we will get there. We need patience. I believe we will be better next season but not necessarily good enough for promotion. I think we'll see an improvment in ourselves, Wolves and Leeds after difficult seasons for all three clubs. We're not the only ones suffering you know. That's the way football is at the moment. And as for the boo boys and dull atmosphere at home matches, that is certainly not down to pessimistic comments - quite the opposite - it is down to overly optimistic expectations not being met.

If the bookies and MA hadn't got us in an automatic promotion place before the season even began then I think we'd have seen a lot less frustration from the fans. MA should have done the sensible thing and said that we have an almost completely new first team, they'll need time to gel and warn the fans to expect some inconsistent performances. I hope CL promotes next season as a time for re-building and asks the fans to get behind the players and the club throughout the process, whatever the ups or downs.
cono Posted 10 May 2005 Posted 10 May 2005 reckon that we will be in the play off positions next season.
city are bigger than the forest Posted 10 May 2005 Posted 10 May 2005 I would like to think that we'll end in play offs or above but I can only see us coming only top half but not in play-offs
The Man With The Golden Grahams Posted 10 May 2005 Posted 10 May 2005 As long as we improve I'll be happy. It wouldn't take much to turn a few draws into wins. Our home performances improved towards the end of the season and if we can take that into next season we should be comfortably top-half, pushing towards the playoffs.
