Guest Posted 10 February 2010 Posted 10 February 2010 It's happening more often this season. A friend of mine got asked for ID last night. You've been warned. A £3 dayrider will do you for the tram. Cheaper than two single fares. There are a few good pubs around Hillsborough corner but not many are away fan friendly. If you've had no problems in the Rawson then go ahead. I drink in there sometimes and I have seen bother on Hillsborough corner. Just thought I'd mention it. Enjoy your visit. Not having a go or owt, just saying! I don't tend to travel in colours, and it's usually just me and the hubby, so we won't be perceived as a threat. Either that, or we just look like boring old farts!!
AmericanScott Posted 11 February 2010 Posted 11 February 2010 It's a wee bit dodgy whether you'll get in with student tickets if you are not a student. Our stewards are fairly strict about asking for NUS cards.Be careful if you're thinking of drinking in the Rawson Spring. No colours. It's not the friendliest pub in the world for away fans. Oh no i was talking about the Swim Inn down west street. Few beverages in there and hop on the tram outside Go there every sunday for breakfast
josedob Posted 11 February 2010 Posted 11 February 2010 I'm actually making trip from US for this match...... ....any ideas what a realistic post-match travel time back to Sheffield rail station is via the tram ? Thanks.
Tommeh Posted 11 February 2010 Posted 11 February 2010 I'm actually making trip from US for this match..........any ideas what a realistic post-match travel time back to Sheffield rail station is via the tram ? Thanks. 15 minutes on the tram then a 20 minute walk to the station, you should make it for half 5, Just. But to be safe I'd say 6.

Awfull shout tom! The tram goes from the stadium (expect a very cramped journey) all the way to the station (if you get the right one!) and probably takes 25 mins or you can get off in the city centre...10 mins tops to the train station

Well I wasn't to know that "Old Fart". All I was saying is people who wear colours should probably not go to pubs in Hillsborough. Oh no i was talking about the Swim Inn down west street. Few beverages in there and hop on the tram outside Go there every sunday for breakfast West Street you'll be fine. The Swim Inn is a nice wee pub. Enjoy. Leppings Lane is the yellow tram stop which is right next to the ground. It will take you 20 minutes from there to the city centre and from there its a 5 minute walk max to the train station. If you walk 5 minutes from Leppings Lane to Hillsborough corner you can get a blue tram straight to the train station.

I've only ever caught it from West street. And so the 15 minute tram ride is correct. I'd love to see you do the city centre tram stop to train station in 10 minutes also. I've missed many trains attempting that. The swim inn is also basically our local, started Boro away, Scunny away and Barnsley away in the great place.
drfc Posted 13 February 2010 Posted 13 February 2010 I swear Posh fans paid less than this! Indeed. ************IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT********* See thread: http://www.foxestalk.co.uk/forums/index.php?showtopic=64755

Maybes Posted 13 February 2010 Posted 13 February 2010 Thanks for the info everyone. Very excited about making this trip. Should hopefully be a decent atmosphere at this game, although the Sheff Wednesday stewards are absolute jobsworths.

Really looking forward to seeing an away match. Last match I was at a few years back, sat in A1 at the Walkers ..... BORING...zzzzz.....in terms of atmosphere. Happen to be in Edinburgh for a University trip and we have a free/"tourist" day that Saturday. Why not take a 3.5 hour train trip to catch the foxes, I say. Looking forward for a scoreline like today ..... 3.5 hour solo train journey back could be a long one if the boys don't perform well! My train gets into Sheffield around 10am....any tourist sites worth checking out in the city center?
C-man Posted 13 February 2010 Author Posted 13 February 2010 Yeah there's a couple of Wetherspoons pubs near a big ferris wheel mate. Get there early else Villa might jib in.

Guest Posted 14 February 2010 Posted 14 February 2010 Indeed.************IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT********* See thread: http://www.foxestalk.co.uk/forums/index.php?showtopic=64755 Didn't really deserve its own thread, the information could have gone into this one. Seeing as it's now turning into a bitchfest, it can reside in general chat. Your problems with SWFC have no place on our forum, to be fair.
drfc Posted 14 February 2010 Posted 14 February 2010 Your problems with SWFC have no place on our forum, to be fair. I posted this info for the benefit of LCFC fans and supporters in general, to make people aware that they are being asked to pay too much for their ticket. How that be conceived as having 'no place on your forum' is ridiculous. I apologise if it degenerated into a slanging match, but my aim was simply to inform.

How that be conceived as having 'no place on your forum' is ridiculous. I apologise if it degenerated into a slanging match, but my aim was simply to inform. I don't think that we, as a club, can get on our high horses re: ticket prices, considering the cost it is for away fans visiting the WS. On top of that, there are the numerous offers, such as the one yesterday for our game against Scunneh, where home fans, in a comparable part of the ground, paid considerably less than the travelling supporters. It goes even further in that home fans who don't buy the local newspaper have had to pay more. Ticket prices and policies are crap. Full stop. That is a matter for General Sport. If you wanted to keep it to SWFC, then by all means post in this thread, but it doesn't warrant a thread on its own. This sub-forum is here to help fans organise their travel, and their day out.
drfc Posted 14 February 2010 Posted 14 February 2010 I think clubs are allowed 2 games a season to promote ticket discounts. Could be wrong though. As for the state of ticket pricing in general there are rules there to follow and if a club breaks them it is in the interests of everyone to complain. Football has priced out too many people already. Why let it continue? As for the separate thread, if I had put the info here then as the thread progresses maybe people may have missed the info. Anyway, you have all the details you need now, so I'll leave you to it. Pay 24 quid or 18 quid. The choice is yours. See you at the Keepmoat.

Why let it continue? And that's a general issue, not a specific one. It's also one that deserves discussion, and I think has been discussed in the past. BTW, I emailed ITFC several times at the start of the season about their extortionate prices, as did several others off of this forum. That was all kept within the one thread; if people really care about it, then the issue won't die down.
lovelcfc Posted 14 February 2010 Posted 14 February 2010 How many fans do you think we will bring in the end? hopefully there will be a good atmosphere
Shrenchel Posted 14 February 2010 Posted 14 February 2010 How many fans do you think we will bring in the end? hopefully there will be a good atmosphere Definitely sell the initial allocation and another 1,000/1,500 on top of that I'd imagine. Haven't ever been to a match at Hillsborough where the atmopshere has been anything better than mediocre to be honest. Being stuck up top doesn't help.

Being stuck up top doesn't help. Was a decent enough atmosphere in the away end when we beat them 2-0 under Megson, but being so far away from the home fans (and so far away from everything in general) didn't help.
Shrenchel Posted 14 February 2010 Posted 14 February 2010 Thought that was very average tbh. Pretty poor numbers actually singing. Far too much left/right side and ginger mourinho.

Quick question TA(or anyone else who can answer it), what happens if you do get caught without student ID at Wednesday? I had a friend who didn't have his at Coventry and he had to make up the difference to an adult ticket. If that's all they do, surely it's worth taking the chance
