Sheffield Wednesday v Doncaster Rovers

Donny Rovers fan here.

Our supporters and SWFC have been having a bit of a squabble about ticket prices for our game against them on Tuesday.

It all started when someone noticed that Sc*nthorpe were charged 18 quid for their Cat B game against Wednesday, where as we were asked to pay 24 quid for a Cat B game, just like you guys have.

The Sc*nthorpe price was lowered after a 'mistake' by Wednesday to 18 quid.

http://www.Sc*nthorpe-united.co.uk/page/Ne...1760908,00.html

To cut a long story short we complained to the football league and eventually they have instructed Wednesday to lower their prices for our game to 18 quid from 24 quid, which is what Wednesday fans pay for a Kop ticket, which is nearly identical to the Leppings Lane end for away fans in seating view and facilities. (note: if a club can argue the facilities are better or have better views they can charge more than home fans)

http://www.doncasterroversfc.co.uk/page/Ne...1963779,00.html

It will be interesting to see if Wednesday contact LCFC and advise them to lower the price for your game.

If not, you could do what we did, and ask for an explanation from the Football League as to why away fans are being asked to pay 6 quid more for an inferior seat than Wednesday fans, contrary to FL rules.

http://www.football-league.co.uk/page/Cont...,,10794,00.html

See you all at the Keepmoat, where you will pay the same price for a seat as we do.

p.s I've just noticed that Ipswich prices have just been reduced for their Cat B game at Wednesday next week too.

Your support have moaned about being charged one of the lowest prices in the CCC for an away game, despite you charging us MORE in your tinpot lego brick shite excuse for a stadium when we went to your shithole town. :crylaugh: And still despite being local rivals you've sold less than 1000 seats for a derby match? Are you not embarrassed? Your support is a joke. Your club is a joke. Your shitey wee stadium is a joke. I hope we relegate you and send you back to where you belong.

Yeah I went with you boys back in Laws' 2nd last game, you summed up Doncaster pretty well. I wouldn't set foot inside that place when we play then in 2 weeks if it wasn't 20 minutes on the train and i had a ticket from the original game.

1,000 is absolutely laughable

If we had sold 900 odd tickets to the Wednesday game it would be a surprise yes. Seeing as we took 970 odd to our Tuesday night game at the lovely Leicester City this week, which our good hosts can no doubt attest to.

Unfortunately for you, your facts are about as credible as your clubs bank balance.

Actually we've sold 1300 to date and the game is on Tuesday. Should be nearer 2000-2500k. We took 5500 there in Div 1. So I guess people aren't that excited by Wednesday anymore.

Says more about the fading appeal of a visit to Wednesday really. Been there, done that, left with the 3 points.

We average 1550 away. Wednesday 1900. Not such a big difference considering we've been in the bottom 2 divisions and the conference for over 3 generations.

You didn't even sell out for your visit to us. 2600 tickets sold and you're here laughing at little Donny Rovers for selling a couple of hundred less.

Sorry, but you're going to have to do better than that.

Anyway, with our heavily discounted tickets, I'm now sure a few more hundred will turn up to chip in for Brian Laws compensation settlement.

Back to the matter in hand.

Your ticket shambles has been rumbled and that's going to cost you a few 000k in lost revenue, at a time when you can't afford it.

That'll be about 2 months of Jeffers wages, and thats even before other clubs who have already played at Hillsborough this year are alerted and make a claim for a refund.

In fact, your arrogant post just motivated me to pass on the good news far and wide.

Hmm. Lets see.

6 quid x 1500 people average x 17 games already played = ooh. about 150k. So around 300k lost revenue in total with another 8 games to go.

Hmm. I do hope such a large sum doesn't push an already indebted club over the precipice. :crylaugh:

Good people of Leicester. Demand a fair price. Enjoy your discounted visit to Sheffield Wednesday, courtesy of the Football League and the good people of Doncaster.

:crylaugh: In response to your nonsense, first of all you have NEVER IN YOUR ENTIRE 131 YEAR HISTORY won a league match at Hillsborough. So I don't know where the been there, done that and left with the 3 points statement came from.

The 900 figure was taken from your forum. Congratulations on selling a few more since then. We sold just shy of 3000 at your place (very close to a sell out) when we were on a run of 1 win in 10 matches. We hadn't scored in the last 4 games either. You have a 15000 seater stadium and you still haven't sold it out. You haven't even got 13000 in there once this season. Don't go making noises about crowds.

As credible as our finances? Your chairman is putting in seven figures every season at your club at present just to pay your wage bill. It has been discussed several times on Radio Sheffield. Your struggling as it is to stay in the Championship and those days of him bankrolling you like that aren't going to last forever. You'll be back where you belong soon. Our debt has decreased (unlike the Blunts) and is manageable. In fact according to a recent media report a huge chunk of it may well be written off entriely by the Co-op bank.

I await the clubs explanation on the reduced prices. You are now getting the cheapest away ticket in the league. So are Ipswich despite them charging us £31. I don't see why when you are getting a similar experience to fans in our end who are paying £6 more. <_< Oh well it should point to a massive following from you now then. Surely?

I used to like your club. One of the local sides I looked out for. But ever since your fans got all billy big time and full of hate for us you've become just like the others. Barnsley hate us more than everyone else, Rotherham hate us more than everyone else, Chesterfield hate us more than everyone else, you now seemingly hate us, why? Because deep down you KNOW who the biggest and best club is in South Yorkshire.

I notice that you got banned from our forum last night too. Threatening members. Very grown up. I look forward to seeing us sending you back on your way to where you belong Tuesday night.

Pathetic reply. Every statement I have made is 100% true.

My time is too valuable to bother arguing the toss, especially as your reply was so lame.

You started the abuse. Not me.

"Because deep down you KNOW who the biggest and best club is in South Yorkshire."- Yes. The mighty Donny Rovers claim to be the biggest in South Yorkshire.

"I notice that you got banned from our forum last night too. Threatening members. Very grown up. I look forward to seeing us sending you back on your way to where you belong Tuesday night."

Sorry wrong person. I'm not the kind of person who threatens anyone, least of all on internet forums. I came here to warn fellow supporters that another club was stealing money from them.

You are posting on a LCFC forum and you are abusing me for warning them that they were being ripped off? Very odd.

Anyway. like I said. Your arrogance and hostility has just motivated me to tell other clubs about the rip off.

I wouldn't have bothered if it wasn't for your insults.

You just cost your club upwards of 300k.

Another factual innacuracy.

Perhaps if you took the time to read the thread instead of hurling childish insults you would learn something,

OK, I'll make it even clearer seeing as you have trouble grasping this concept.

SWFC v DRFC / LCFC

Category B game

Wednesday Kop ticket = 17 quid please

Rovers/Foxes away ticket= 23 quid please

SWFC are asking away fans to pay 6 quid more for an equivalent view and facilities.

This is contrary to FL guidelines, hence the ticket is now 18 quid for DRFC, and hence I am here warning LCFC fans that they are being ripped off and should do something about it.

The fact that you do not know how much a ticket costs in the Kop of your own club says alot.

Have you ever even been to Hillsborough?

Posted
I've never seen a grown man get so worked up over 6 quid.

You've clearly never met my housemate. :giggle:

For a split second there, i thought he was having a go at us.

Why does everyone bum Wednesday so much? Fair play, you travel well. So do plenty of other teams, but they don't bummed.

Can't speak for anyone else, but they're the side local to where I live most of the time (not counting Sheff Utd, pathetic bunch them) plus a lot of good mates support them who are decent lads and their views actually matter unlike many PL supporters I know.

Ignoring the above points I could still say - they have lovely traditional ground, superb away support and a very friendly bunch.

meant to also put...Fair play to the Donny fan for trying to help us out. Wednesday's prices are pretty good anyway especially next to idiots like Ipswich, Derby, QPR and Forest all charging £30 or over. £13 for a concession is as good as we'll get anywhere and anything under £25 in this day and age is just about acceptable especially for a ground with a rare bit of character.

The Owl & the Donny fan went to sea

In a beautiful pea green boat.

They argued about money'

'Cos it costs more than Scunny

To get into the Keepmoat

On an internet forum

They lacked decorum

And their critiques were inadequate cover

For the fact that such hot and passionate rows

Concealed their man-love for each other

Biggest bunch of aggressive moronic knob jockeys we've had a t the city ground this season. Which is a shame cos I know a few Wednesday fans and the're top chaps and I actually quite like the club but the behaviour of their usually pretty good away support was pathetic.
