Logan Happy To Play Waiting Game

Posted on: Tue 09 Mar 2010

For the first time since May 2007 Leicester City fans were able to watch Conrad Logan in action as the Irish goalkeeper came on for Chris Weale, who was injured in the first half of the defeat at Hillsborough.

Logan has spent the past couple of seasons on loan at Stockport County and Luton Town, but this season he has settled down as Weale's understudy.

The 23 year old says despite the limited opportunities he is happy with life at the Walkers Stadium.

"This is my ninth season at the club and I have just signed a two-year contract so it was a case of just keep my head down, work hard, Chris has done well and just wait for my chance.

It was unfortunate what happened to him but we just have to get on with it."

Logan was involved in City's first defeat in nine games on Saturday, as Leicester slipped to a 2-0 defeat away at struggling Sheffield Wednesday.

Despite the loss City remain fifth in the Championship and Logan is confident that the team is capable of maintaining their promotion push.

"The manager has put together a very good squad, young players who were here but who had experience, some older players for a very good mix.

We know what is expected of us and a high standard has been set. We have done well so far and there is no reason why we can't keep it going and see where it takes us."

I wish the lad well and hope one day he can step up to become a first choice keeper, if not here then somewhere else. Sounds like he had a solid game, despite the loss, and he is a decent back up for Weale. I would be rather concerned if Weale picked up a prolonged injury though as Logan is somewhat of an unknown quantity when it comes to consistency.
